We were in the middle of the B group on our flight to Orlando last month, and there were still plenty of 3-seats together, just towards the back of the plane. I think you'll be fine if you're not picky. Have fun!

As for whether your flight is a connecting one rather than an originating (meaning it might be partially full before boarding begins), I'd suggest simply calling Southwest and asking. As others said, however, if you're willing to sit near the back, it's likely your party will be able to find seats together. On our last flight (granted, it was originating, but we had a couple-dozen disabled or small-kids-in-tow passengers who got to jump in between the A and B groups), I had the last A boarding position and my husband and 2 kids were B2, 3 and 7 (or something like that). By the time all four of us were aboard, there were still a half-dozen unoccupied rows at the rear from which to choose. No parties got split up until the last family (parents and their 2 young teens in the C group) boarded the plane, at which point the only seats left were four far-flung single seats and no one was willing to move.

Also, if you upgrade to the "early bird" pass ( I think it's about 12 extra dollars) for just one member of your party, they can board ahead of the rest of your party and hold seats for you.

Like others said, you'll be fine at b03. I was A51 and A54 out of 60 last trip and would say mid towards rear still had empty rows. It's really about later-Bs and on does it start to get a little packed.

This I have a huge problem with. Savings seats is somthing you are not supposed to do and I have ZERO problem telling the flight attendent someone is saving seats for someone boarding after me if I want those seats.

You do that. When you're the parents of a set of 6 yr. old quadruplets, it becomes ESSENTIAL that we all sit together. I pay extra in order to ensure this.

You only pay for one of your traveling party though. That's still not right and if you want to assure that you all sit together maybe you should travel on flights that have assigned seating.

Or pay the extra 12 dollars per person to get advance seating priority.

Without a doubt, you WILL be fine. There really isn't even anything to worry about, unless there are a ton of families with children that board during family boarding, or a lot of people that board during pre-board.

You actually have a good boarding position, so don't sweat it.

Wait, Southwest doesn't let you pick your seats upon reservation? Why would you ever want to fly with a company that has such nonsense going on!

Cheap tickets and two bags free. It's actually not as horrid as some people make it sound. Now that they have the boarding groups it's much more manageable.
Okay, I'm going to sound like a nut job now, but if I can't sit next to my wife and we can't pick the seats with the higher probability of survival in the case of anything going wrong (i.e.: the last 1/4 to about 1/6 of seats), I'm not interested. Now, I'm not scared of flying per say, I just like to make my chances better if anything goes array...

Oof yeah, I don't miss the days of lining up hours before the flight.

Those seats are typically the last ones to fill up anyway :) Most people want to be towards the front so they can get off the plane quicker.

You would have to ask the thousands of people a day who seem to have no problem with it.

I fly them religiously, but I don't have an issue with having to know what seat Im going to be sitting in. I just want to get from point A to point B safely and in the time frame I need to for the least amount of money I can pay.

I think I've only been separated like 2 times? If you check in right at 24 hours you typically get close boarding numbers.

When we have 3 tickets we are buying I'll take the savings over the slight chance something may happen.
