I wanted to post here to let you all know about a man that, with his brother, made great American music, that even had a connection to the Country Bear Jamboree! (But most important, it was a good time to let a worldwide community know about the passing of a wonderful man and musician that may go unnoticed.)

His name is James McReynolds, and he and his brother formed the bluegrass pioneering group, "Jim and Jesse."

Please take the time to read about him in this article: http://www.tennessean.com/obits/archives/02/12/27153628.shtml?Element_ID=27153628

He was a great man. And as for the WDW connection, he and his brother sang a popular version of "Ole Slew Foot" (the big-finish song that cuts off Big Al in CBJ). Johnny Horton made another pop version, and others have sung it, but among Nashville types, Jim and Jesse's rendition was well-known and influential. Yet another reason to see that the people who originally wrote CBJ did their homework.

Jim and Jesse, along with their band "The Virginia Boys," and of course Bill Monroe, Mac Wiseman, and Flatt and Scruggs (of Beverly Hillbillies fame), really influenced bluegrass music and brought a native Virginia/Kentucky sound to the world. They continued to perform on "The WSM Grand Ole Opry" even as late as last fall.

If you are interested in finding out more about Jim and Jesse, just look them up on Amazon or search your record store, but I just wanted this part of the world to notice their contribution on the event of Jim's passing.

Rest in peace, Jim!
