I have a huge, gigantic feeling that BMG will be coming to Universal. Was at universal today and we walked back by Jaw's and who do we see...Blue Man Group. They were all standing around holding universal umbrellas. On the way out today they actually had one of the members on top of the Universal Globe. They were taping a commecial I believe. A friend of mine got a quick pic of them in the park. Im sure he will post it on a few other forums and Ill try to get a copy of it. I find this to be really weird b/c I just read the rumor this morning and then I saw them in park today. Look for a press release from Universal very soon I think.

Well. You are basically right. The fact that the Blue Man Group was there is no coincidence. They are filming a commercial for the announcement about their new show on Nov. 9th. The show itself is funny and eccentric, so the commercial will most likely be the same. I plan on having opening night tickets to the show.

Perhaps this will be the Blue Man Group troupe that will feature Tobias from Arrested Development. :animwink:

So Universal brings in someone from outside the company to provide the flagship attraction for 2007 rather than trusting their own in-house entertainment department... Smart move. I don't trust their entertainment department either.

Looking forward to this one. I hope this ignites a war that brings more A-list acts to town.

Actually, Universal's flagship attraction for 2007 will be the Simpsons simulator ride that will replace Back to the Future. The Blue Man Group show will be the flagship entertainment addition to the Universal Orlando Resort for 2007.

Hardly. Blueman group is to compete directly with cirque over at WDW. I trust Universal creative. When they have the money they can be amazing.

Not a whole lot of difference in Disney bring in Cirque du Soleil and Universal bringing in Blue Man Group.

It does bring in more quality entertainment to the area.

As far as BTTF goes, don't count your chickens until the eggs are laid. And then wait until they are hatched, well fed, and able to fly for the first time. And then check up on them for a few days to make sure they made it on their own...

Even if/when Simpsons opens, BMG is still probably gonna be their biggest marketing push. A show like that could EASILY draw guests off Disney property, and if they leave Disney property they might feel inclined to spend a day at Universal. Universal has needed an original, grade A kick ______ draw to bring some more business in for a while now. Blue Man Group is it. A 15 year old simulator ride with a new movie and some fresh paint is not.

>>>Blueman group is to compete directly with cirque<<<

I don't think there is much to compete with. La Nouba is a good show, but it is an older show. I think Blue Man Group will mop the floor with Downtown Disney's presence in this market.

Didn't I hear that the Cirque show is being revamped ?

Maybe they were aware that BMG was coming?

It's been rumored strongly for a month or so, but its still a bit of a surprise. This is going to shake up Disney's plans.

I wouldnt say good bye to Back to the future anytime soon. One side of the building is completley disabled, but the other side is still up and running. At one point I heard Universal was holding out for the rights to Simpsons. Now im hearing that the rights have been aquired but.. .they are holding off on the ride. They might just update the technology and make the ride a bit better. Who knows.

I rode BTTF on Thursday and they had the two left rows with both levels running. I couldn't see the other ride vehicles since I was sitting in the middle of the back row. I can't wait for some type of upgrade since getting your head whacked against the back of the car is no fun.

I just hope it is a new original show for the resort. I think the fact that Disney's Cirque show is original it has a stronger draw. I don't think most people would pay $100+ dollars to see a show that they have seen at another location. If it is true, which it seems to be, I will try to make one of the first shows.

This is what im thinking.... Nickelodeon building is empty, Nickelodeon building does have an entrance from citywalk. All universal has to do is make that entry a little larger, and redo that building and bam they have a new attraction in citywalk and will give Cirque Du Soleil a run for its money. Really a masterful idea. tickets run anywhere from 76-126, and with the recent rumor of cirque du soleil increasing its prices. I never seen either show, but I would love to see them both.

Sorry to be blatent when I say this, but Back to the Future will not be kept in any form. It is being completely removed on both sides, in both Florida and Hollywood. They are working on one theater while they keep the other open so that the crowd flow in the rest of the park is not severly interupted. Just think about what happened when Jaws was closed.

Instead of making the entrence behind the Hard Rock larger. Just move the entrence to where the guiser use to be since the show wouldn't actually be inside the park. I just hope the redo the bulding a little to make it look like something other then a studio stage building.
