Hello! I know this question must have been asked many times and I did search for a thread. We have four or five hours in August to do either Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. We will be going with our DSs who will be 19 months and 8 yrs old. We will be arriving for rope drop on a Saturday in August. Any suggestions will be most helpful!

May everyone have a happy and most importantly safe weekend!!

Both are fun, but I prefer Typhoon.

How much of a daredevil is the 8yo? IMO (and you'll get seriously mixed opinions on this), if the 8yo isn't into thrilling slides, Typhoon Lagoon is best. Wave pool is zero entry, so its good for babies through adults. Lazy river is a lot of fun. And it has some fun slides, too.

If the child cannot be scared and is all about the slides, I'd go with Blizzard.

My personal favorite is TL, because I can't get enough of that wave pool. If I were Bill Gates, I'd build myself one. :)

My first time on a water slide, I took a huge hunk of skin out of the top of my foot. It hurt like hell the next day and for at least a week after that. So, I advise water shoes. :)

The water parks are a lot of fun. :) If you're in a WDW hotel, they have EMHs, too...if you want to use them.

Great information:D Thank you so much! Exactly what I was looking for! My 8 yr old is not much of a daredevil!

Either park will provide fun for them as both have a uniqueness about them. We prefer Typhoon Lagoon slightly though we visit both each year on our trip. Shark reef is really cool at Typhoon Lagoon and if they're not strong swimmers they provide inflatable vests along with the masks and snorkles. If you're visiting in the summer then try to do shark reef early on after opening. They let people swim in small groups and you must have the 'training talk' before going. If there's a lot waiting this can take time and the swim itself is over quite quickly compared to the time you can be waiting, so try to visit very shortly after opening. Also as others have said the wave machine there is quite exceptional, I spend ages right in the deep end treading water and bobbing on the huge wave that comes every few minutes. Mrs M who doesn't really swim enjoys the day reading her kindle in the shade and paddling in the wave pool, it's a relaxing day for both of us even though we both take very different things from the park. She also has the ability to spot me from great distances near attractive women in bikinis and comes over to 'check up' on me, however the other year when a strange fat bloke was chatting to me about his camper van and wouldn't shut up she left me to it

I do prefer TL to BB, just seems more relaxing to me. If you get there at rope drop, make sure to put your stuff in chairs that will be in the shade, cause you will cook without it. You can bring a cooler in also if you like, just no glass allowed, or alcohol.

Typhoon Lagoon :) Crush n Gusher water coasters and the wave pool are awesome. Blizzard Beach is good too though.

Looks like TL it is! Thank you all so much for your help!

I think it's a tough choice. I personally choose typhoon hands down every time. but I'm also not an 8 year old girl, despite what my friends tell me when I freak out from wolf spiders in my backyard.

I think the wave pool for kids may actually go to blizzard here. again I love typhoons more, but for a nervous kid hearing people yell or scream from excitement from the massive wave can be a bit scary I'd imagine. also from a theme standpoint the lazy river seems to be a bit more lighthearted and comical at blizzard, with characters and goofy scenes that you go by.

that said, you will have fun at either so there really is no "wrong" choice here. unless you choose river country that's the wrong choice. right now admission costs a lot, you need a ticket, a Delorean, Christopher Lloyd....

Great review. Not an eight year old girl, huh? You got the setting perfect. Ha, yea, the nervous screechy kids.
