Birthday cake at 50's prime time cafe

I have a bit of a complicated birthday cake question. In the past, we went to 50's prime time for one of my kid's birthdays. Well, I had not pre ordered a cake, but I asked the staff if they could bring one and they did. This cake was for a child with severe nut allergies (all nuts!) and they were still accommodating. In the past I had pre ordered a cake from the bakery they advertise online and it was horrible, so I am hoping to stay away from that. Anyway my question is, is there anyway for me to contact 50's prime time directly to see if I can have that same cake again?

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
I don't know if you can still get the same cake, but I have used Disney's bakeries onsite (call the WDW cake hotline for info) several times and absolutely loved the cakes they have done for me for birthdays and anniversaries. Probably some of the best cakes I have ever eaten and I'm picky about cake has to be moist and fresh etc. I don't know who you are saying was advertised online from Disney because they don't advertise their cakes online (that I know of) you have to call the cake hotline to have one delivered at your desired location (or alot of locations have a plain vanilla or chocolate cake and Mickey head standard cakes without ordering) , and all locations on property are done by a different dedicated bakery on property such as Boardwalk Bakery, Contemporary Bakery, and Grand Floridan Bakery, and several others. :)

There should be a cake thread kicking around here somewhere detailing what bakeries can deliver where. I think most of the allergy cakes were coming from Babycakes (thought they kept a production bakery even though they closed the shop at DTD) so they may not taste anything like what you would expect, since they tended to verge towards vegan, GF, etc. But they are usually lightyears better than other allergy based food, so it's not a bad thing. That may have been what they offered simply to avoid potential cross contamination from the normal bakery kitchens where the cakes are prepped, I believe that peanut butter or nuts of some shape/form are an option.

But with about 99% certainty, 50's didn't create the cake in house. The options are usually having something sent over from whatever convention/wedding kitchen handles that area (detailed in the cake thread) or the plain generic round cakes they keep on stock.

Babycakes is still at Disney Springs just by a different name. Erin Mckenna's Bakery. I know they do vegan and glutten free but not sure about allergies. You could call to ask.

Yup, but in the interm, I believe they maintained a production kitchen during the switch over specifically to produce cakes for WDW.

It's the same company just now called Erin Mckennas. They are both one and the same just different name now. So it never closed that I know of to switch over. The LLC name is Erin Mckennas Babycakes etc. Emails also are @babycakes Etc.
But anywho that's maybe why it was not great they may have done a gluten free and such allergen cake, which can be dry and not what you expect a cake should be. But Disney's bakeries cakes are usually awesome but those from there yes can be lackluster. ;)

Eh, not a huge deal, but I'm saying that I believe there was a period of time where they didn't have a retail presence direct to customer. Babycakes was closed and before Erin McKenna's opened, during which they still maintained a kitchen solely to make cakes/goodies for WDW.

See here -> http://www.wdwmagic.com/dining/poll...-nyc-permanently-closing-later-this-month.htm
and then here -> http://www.wdwmagic.com/dining/erin...yc-opens-at-the-landing-in-disney-springs.htm
They were closed for a good 10+ months.

Sorry and Thanks for clarifying I forgot it had closed (I should remember I'm on here every day! Haha). It was probably between my trips at that time being it was open and then when we went back the following year was open with the new name as well. But yes no it's not a big deal I was just having a brain fart. As to why I probably didn't remember that bakery at all in my first post too. Lol ;)

Not a problem. Depending on when the OP went, that may have made a difference, that the only reason was I was trying to clarify. Depending on what was open/closed may have impacted where the cake came from.

Yes very true so totally understand pointing that out. I am perfectly okay with being wrong sometimes anyway. Haha! Hope the OP has a better experience if they do a pre ordered custom cake again. Oh and The cake thread on here is a great resource I have used it many times with my questions or ideas for a cake. :)

The above is all good information. I have a dinner reservation at 50s cafe for Sept 21st. This also happens to be my son's birthday. Planning on making it at day at HS as he and his sister are huge Star Wars fans. I am not looking at getting a cake as know we won't eat the whole thing and won't want to carry it around for the whole day/evening. Currently thinking of just bringing a candle and asking if they would just add it to his dessert.
