Does anyone know how many Attractions they put Bill Nye in Past & Present? The only ones I can think of him being in is..

Dinosaur - Just voice in The museum
UOE - The entire attraction
And one that was mentioned in the WDW Explorer 2nd Edition about Innoventions.

I thought there was more but I could be wrong.. Anyone know?

Wow, I remember seeing the random show in Innoventions. It was back when Innoventions first became Innoventions. If I remember correctly, it was in a very small theater with random inventions all over the walls and a few video screens in front. I have vague memories of a brief "brain storm" segment, and a large water-cooled computer in an upper corner. I could be combining multiple shows, though.

Bill Nye....he's so irrelevant that I doubt that they'd add him to much of anything right now.
Isn't it amazing how Bill Nye because the science guy when his degrees are in aeronautic and mechanical engineering? Granted that is scientific, but not the same as, say, a chemist or a botanist. Yes, I know that physics are involved...lol. He was an engineer with Boeing and then decided that he wanted to be a stand-up comic so he built his act into Bill Nye, science guy.

I am a science teacher and I rarely show his videos..I find that my special ed kids hate them with a passion.

To me he is also irrelevant as the hurricane expert for CNN...

Does anyone remember his first national TV gig...as the silent helper to Christopher Lloyd's Doc Brown in live action segments of the "Back to the Future" cartoon"? Why do I know this...too much time on my hands...now if you were to ask me where my car keys are...couldn't tell you...lol.

Actually, his first TV appearances were on a Seattle comedy show called Almost Live, kind of a poor man's SNL.

They showed it a while back on Comedy Central and I actually really liked the show. The funny thing about Bill's segments (which were called Bill Nye the Science Guy) is that they usually involved him doing something wrong in a preposterous experiment leading to things going awry. He was funny and the bits worked, which led me to being very surprised to seeing him presenting himself as a TV educator, as alot of the skits he did an Almost Live had rather adult humor.

The important thing is he gets/got children and even teens excited about learning. Something lacking from much of our education process.

If you have ever heard a speech from him you would see just how inspiring he can be.

Almost Live is an institution in Seattle (proud Pacific Northwest resident!!) They still show old episodes from the '90s late at night. Bill did a character called SpeedWalker that was hilarious. Joel McHale (from E's The Soup) actually got his start on that show as well.

I got to meet Bill in the late '90s at his Nye Labs studios. He was pretty famous at the time, but seemed to not even notice. Kind of a "who, me?" thing about him. GREAT guy.

Bill is really great! I would hope they could use his voice wherever they could. He's fun and I think they could do worse for voice-overs and attractions in Epcot.

He was seriously the only reason I enjoyed science at all while growing up. I ADORED him. Still do. And I agree with you...excitement in learning is very much lacking...I really wish there were more people like him, who could make learning exciting. That was the beauty in the Epcot of the 90's...of course, some people found it boring, but I always found it fun and exciting, and I learned things in the process.

UoE Global Warming?

It has been a while since I have been to WDW :( but last time I rode UoE I remember him saying something to the effect that global warming was not proven yet and was highly disputed. This is was wrong then just like it is now. I know the ride is sponsered by a gas company but for him to sell himself out like that made me :hurl: and :brick:. Plus there he was not the only guy out there like that how about Mr. Wizard R.I.P. and Beakman world (sp). I

Actually, when discussing coal (not gas), Ellen asks about Global Warming, Bill replies "It's a hot topic with lots of questions"
Sounds pretty close to what we have today. A hot topic with lots of questions.

Yup, nothing wrong with saying that. We are still unsure how much we affect global warming vs. the natural cycle of temperatures of the Earth. He's 100% right.
