Dri-fit shirt material. I cannot being to tell you how much it helped in the heat. Amazing.
When we went a few weeks ago it was going to be the first time we've gone in the heat that summer and late summer "offers" in WDW and I read all about the "beating the heat" tips that everyone has provided. Most of them were excellent and really helped out but I didn't read about this at all. Obviously in the heat it's shorts and short sleeve or sleeveless shirts but material is a huge deal. I've become very biased towards the Nike dri-fit material in past few years and when I started playing tennis again this summer after a long layoff (shoulder and knee injuries) I realized how big of a deal this material is.
I wore a dri-fit shirt every single day but our last day (since we were going to be in the park for a short amount of time) and it was amazing the difference when the sun was out. My kids wore them virtually everyday as well (wife wears sleeveless light colored lightweight running shirts).
While Nike's shirts are more expensive, any brand of the lightweight, loose "dri-fit" style of shirts will work. Old Navy's version are inexpensive on sale and my kids had one or two each and they worked really well too.
