BIG Mission Space Ride System update

Cool! From what I have heard, there are going to be like 12 of these on each centrifuge, and the concept art certainly reflects that. Let's see here: 12 pods X 4 centrifuges = 36 pods (that number sounds familiar). If there are going to be 4 seats in each pod, then ride capacity should be pretty good for this one. This will break 1,500 to 1,700 easily, I hope. :)

Thanks for the cool news!!!! :king:

Has anyone ever tried riding the cyber space mountain at Disney Quest. It's uses these machines (Well at least the other designs). I'm a roller coaster buff and enjoy roller coasters BUT when I made my own roller coaster with loops at Disney Quest it made me really dizzy. Weightlessness was simulated by tipping the seats forward. Although you feel like 0Gs, reality sets in when you're totally leaning into the harness. (am I the only one who gets dizzy on these things? Let me know?) I'm hoping the new designs in the Space attraction will be a little bit more realistic. Also, if these are the pods...what happens if one person feels sick...does everyone have to suffer when they hit the stop button. Or will this be a gentle attaction for all ages? Just wondering. :D

Looks like a big screen TV couldnt even fit in there to project images let alone there be walls that make you look like your in space.. Just seems really cheesy right now if thats all they have.. Little boxes..

It is not going to be a gentle attraction by any means, and there will likely not be an E-stop on the attraction because they would kill capacity. If someone does get sick, all will have to suffer the consequences. :)

Wait and see, just wait and see...

Do you mean at the operator console, or beside every seat that a guest will sit at on the ride itself? Of course the operator console will have an e-stop, if that is what you mean.

I mean like .. I dont think they will have emergency stop buttons in the ride pods cause ppl dont think sometimes. I could see cameras more then anything. buttons are tempting if your a tipsy collage person haha.. You know " of I thought it would be funny " To many mistakes. I can see Disney say somthing in the preshow " raise your hand if your nauses" or somthig ya know?

Ummm...this may not alter the estimates you give for the ride capacity, but 12 times 4 equals 48...not 36. Unless somekind of really new math has come about... :)

DOH!!! I've just inducted myself into the "Circle of Losers" for that one. I have no idea what in the hell I was thinking there.

I really want to see what they do to this
It almost looks like four more sets of Dumbo "clones" that only spin really fast and are enclosed

I went on Cyberspace Mtn. at DQ...just in case you haven't been there....

After designing the coaster, you go to this hallway, where you can see into the room where the pods are. There are about four on each side. Each pod has a CM assigned to it, and there are two monitors, i think. One displaying the coaster designed, and the other displaying the people in the pod. Inside the pod (these hold only 2 people)...there is a rear-projection screen, and to the left and right (left for the person on the left, and right for the person on the right) are red buttons which will stop the ride. Oh, i forgot to mention that there is a catwalk, i think, that leads to the pod, and the right side opens onto the catwalk. (I went on the left side of the hallway, so its probably reversed for the right side of the hall).

Hope this helps...BTW, whats the "alien encounter" thing at DQ?

Hey lookie at what I found on that website

Motion Sickness

It has been said that Entertainment = Fear - Death

EnTCo advances this formula: Entertainment = Fear - Death - Motion Sickness

EnTCo developers work closely with ETC's Motion Science Institute to maximize the ride thrill features, while minimizing the potential for motion sickness.

Motion Sciences Institute [MSI/AMTI]

• Perception of Motion Specialists

• Conducts & sponsors research with the Air Force Institute of Technology & the U.S. Army Research Laboratory on perception of motion

• Consultants for industry & air forces worldwide on motion sickness

Looks like they already have the motion sickness problem taken care of.
