Has anyone tried the Bhaktapur Duck from Yak and Yeti? I was looking over the menu, and it sounds amazing! Duck is one of my favorite dishes, so I would hate to order it and be disappointed. Thanks!

Duck is one of those dishes that can be very good or meh depending on how its prepared. Ive had some amazing duck dishes that were memorable and hated getting to the end of my meal. Others made me regret ordering it. Weve had the duck at Y&Y and its been very flavorful, well prepared. I cant say its in my top 5 places but I was happy with what I got and no regrets paying for it. If it interests you, go for it. When on vacation you have opportunities to try things you havent had before.

Duck happens to be the most inconsistent meat out there.... It's either great or fat is not rendered properly. It's very much like octopus. Cooked correctly or rubber....

As I said, it depends on its handling and preparation. There are many cooking styles that can and will make a duck memorable. As many dining spots the success or failure depends on the Chef.

It's my son's favorite Yak & Yeti dish... and his only Yak & Yeti dish. As in, we went to Yak & Yeti for the first time around 10 years ago (when he was about 7 years old), he ordered the duck on a lark (he'd never had duck before, but was intrigued by the idea of "plum barbecue sauce"), and he has refused to order anything else there in our 4 visits since, with the most recent being 6 months ago, because he loves it so much. He's shared a few bites with the rest of us over the years, and the few nibbles I've had have been tender and delicious. :)
