Better Horse Drawn Carriage Ride?

We enjoyed the ride at Port Orleans, it takes you around both Riverside and French Quarter and along the waterway....we own a couple of horses and they are truly beautiful animals.... but don't expect to touch, go near or give the horse a carrot for thanks (I'm guessing its for liability reasons) so that was disappointing.

I've gone on several carraige rides in Cape May, NJ (if anyone ever goes there in the fall, I highly recommend the haunted carraige ride) and this is pretty normal. It's definitely for liability reasons. Horses can be very unpredictable as I'm sure you know from your own horses. :)

I don't know for certain if it's the same in WDW, but in CM the carraige drivers alone can make the ride worth it with their stories about the resort. The experience is different every time as every driver has their own way of doing the ride and their own stories. It's very cool. Maybe it's different and more scripted in WDW- I don't know for sure- but from what I know and what I've read, it sounds like a similar type of experience. That being said, I'm sorry that I'm not answering your question about which one is better... :joyfull:

I have booked the Sleigh Ride for when we are at WDW in December, looking forward to it and never visited Fort Wilderness before so thought it would be a great way to see some of the resort

Thank for posting this! I've been hinting....well outright telling my husband that I want to take the carriage ride at POR since our last trip in May. He says we will def be doing it this trip next week for our 1 yr wedding anniversary. I can't wait! How long is it?

Here are some photos from one of our sleigh rides. Quality isn't great (we are in a moving carriage!), and they do not do justice to how done up some of these sites are but it does provide a sample. It is awesome. One year, someone had a huge cutout of Cinderella Castle and looped the entire Wishes show on it. Synced up 'fireworks' (light flashes) and everything. It was just awesome.
