best way to fix dark pictures

What is the best method in photoshop to use for correcting dark pictures (my daughter took some pix w/ a non-digital camera, but didn't use a flash, sure would have been nice if she had). I've tried to lighten them up using brightness/contrast, and it helps a bit, but not much. I guess what I'm asking is there any hope for fixing up something like this? (this pic has had no modification done). we have some pix taken with the digital at the same time which are fine, but it would be nice to fix up some of the kids shots.

also - is there anyway to correct motion blurs, or is that a lost cause?

Ah..this is what i charge like 200 bucks for...lol....its not THAT hard but a tedious process using the R G B channels (red green blue) and adjusting each individually...as well as screwing with the levels.

I'll try and mess with it later (maybe even as late as tommorow since im sorta busy today)...

As for motion blur..yah...thats not something that can be fixed (well..it COULD depending on how severe..but chances are you are talking major here)

Not the BEST result..but the compression on the image was a big factor..if i made it any brighter all you would see are big squares caused by the high compression level of the orignal image...

a definite improvement, I can actually see a face in there now!

was this done all with the RGB levels or was there some other tweaking done?
