Best way to book at 7 m.

What would be the best strategy to book a room at the 7 month mark.

For example If I wanted to book a 8 night stay Oct 20th - 28th.

I already have my home resort as a backup.

My issue is I know people can book the 20th 6 days earlier then me if they are ending their stay on that date.

So by the day I could book my entire trip (7 Months + 1 day) People have been able to book these nights a week sooner.

Did I explain that well?

A person could book the 20th 7 days in advance if he books a 7 night stay. Then could he not just call EVERY day for a week to add the extra days? And even cancel the 1st days?

Something seems odd.

Any tips on booking at the 7 month window would be VERY helpful.

Thanks!!

Unfortunately, people do sometimes "walk" a reservation to make sure they get the days they want. It isn't something I would ever do, but I do not believe it is against the rules. The main tip about the seven month mark is to call first thing in the morning on the exact day. Now saying that, if you are trying to get into BCV or BWV during those dates, it is highly unlikely that you will get in. They are pretty much booked solid by owners during Food & Wine, but you can still get lucky. You could also waitlist unavailable dates, and hope they come through.

We have used this strategy very successfully over the years. We own at SSR, and make our reservation at the 11 month mark. Then, we sometimes try for a different resort at 7 months. Since we go multiple times per year, we have been lucky to get what we wanted. We just understand that at certain times of the year, some resorts are harder to get into than others.

My advice is just like being on Ticketmaster. Go on the website, type in all your information, and be ready to click "search" the second it turns 7am. Today was my 7 month window and I did this and got a two bedroom Lake View at the Grand Floridian for 4 night.

So I have a similar question. I was able to get a standard view 1 BR at BLT in September for 6 of our 7 nights. I currently have September 15 (middle of our stay) waitlisted. Do you think it will come through? We do not want to move for one night, and I know that BLT has a small number of standard view rooms. Thinking about just booking the lake view while I can, but I am stingy with my points :) Suggestions? Thoughts?

I would book the lake view and hold onto it, but still keep your wait list open for the standard view room. If your wait list comes through you can always cancel the lake view reservation. I wouldn't want to have to move out of BLT for one night to move back in because your wait list never came through. Plus who knows how long that one night lake view will even be there if you don't grab it.

Sept 15th is showing open for all 1br rooms.

Millionaire, I mistyped, it is Sept 14 with a check out of the 15. I decided to book lake view and chance getting a north side even number room with a partial MK view.

But as a Tigger suggested, I will keep a wait list out there. You never know! At least I know the resort.
