Best way: Animal Kingdom to Downtown Disney

What is the best way to get from Animal Kingdom to Downtown Disney? Is there a bus that goes straight there? Or do we need to take a bus to a hotel and get another bus OR take the bus to Port Orleans (were we are staying) and catch the boat?

Any info would be much appreciated!!

Fastest would probably be bus to AKL and then to DD.

There are no direct buses from parks to DD or vice versa.
