We are not driving as it is our first trip, I agree saving money here and there all adds up, having money i choose to spend it on special treats like the vip fireworks at epcot or taking a day to visit other attractions such as busch gardens. I have changed the reservation now to onsite disney hotel, which the whole family agreed would make the vacation easier and more enjoyable.

light weight/colored loose fitting clothing
broken in comfortable shoes
bring rain ponchos and be sure to check local tv stations forecast before heading out
make sure your son has your cell phone number in case he loses you. take a pic of him each morning
even if doing mostly counter service meals sit down for an hour and regroup/talk/laugh
explore your resort. lots to see
if your son is tired midday go back to resort for nap/swim
allow time to get places when using buses. at least an hour if you have to be somewhere at a set time.

Take your time to enjoy where you are and who you are with!
  • Have a general idea of what you'd like to see, but don't feel completely obligated to hit every single thing
  • Feel free to ask any cast member for help, they will always lead you in the right direction
  • Look for the smaller bits of magic hidden throughout the park
  • Openings and Closings at parks are worth the early/late times
I know there's a million more things to tell you, but honestly just submerge yourself into the experience!

Hello again, I forgot, one of the best things we did with the grands is after we came back from a long day at the parks was to hit the late pool (some of them are open until midnight . We would swim for maybe 15 minutes and go back to our room and everybody slept like rocks. There was never anyone else at the pool during that time and it just decompressed everyone from all the noise and excitement. It was absolutely lovely!

-If you're driving to Magic Kingdom & the line is long for the direct monorail to the park, take the resort monorail. It stops at MK anyway and even though the ride around is a bit longer, it's better than waiting in line.
-Do everything in your power to watch Celebrate the Magic & Wishes (the projection show and fireworks at Magic Kingdom). It's well worth it.
-If you have the time, try to leisurely explore World Showcase at Epcot. It's easy to just quickly walk around the lagoon and bypass certain pavilions, but each one is extraordinary if you can spare the time to check them out.
-As I saw several people say already, don't try to do everything. It's impossible. I've been going to the resort multiple times a year for my whole 21 years of life and I've yet to do it all. Look over the different attractions and recreation options and decide what sounds the most exciting to you.
-If parades aren't your thing, those are great times to get on the most popular rides with a significantly shorter wait time.
-^That being said, Festival of Fantasy at Magic Kingdom is fantastic if you do decide to check it out.

Have a seriously great trip! :)
