Ditto the above. Do not, I repeat, do not expect to see even close to everything. Accept that you may miss a ride or three due to them being closed for refurbishment or from the line just being too darn long. (It is OK to not want to to wait excessively long for something. There are a lot of awesome things to see at WDW, but I say this as someone who has been there a zillion times -- your vacation will not be ruined if you miss a ride because you didn't want to wait for 2 hours to get into it. If nothing else, think of it as a reason to come back someday.)

Take breaks. Stay hydrated, especially if you go any time when it's hot there. Stay onsite if you can. If you have small kids, or older people, or a pregnant lady, etc in your group, taking a midday break will be especially important. Bring sunscreen and use it often. Don't wear a brand new pair of shoes -- even comfy ones -- on a park day for the first time.

Try to plan for at least one nice sit-down meal. There's nothing worse, to me, than days upon days of eating fast food. It's a nice break to have time in the air conditioning, eating something special you might not regularly eat at home.

Above all, remember that a Disney vacation is still a vacation! Have a blast and enjoy your trip. :)

Rope drop! If you arrive at a park before opening time, you'll get more headliners done in the first two hours than you will the entire rest of the day put together. As the crowds (and heat) begin to build toward lunchtime, take a leisurely break back at the hotel and come back around 4pm or so to finish your tour (using FP+ to finish up necessary headliners, but otherwise taking your time and keeping your eye out for whatever catches your eye, whether or not it was in the initial plan).

Fantasmic! at Hollywood Studios, Illuminations! at EPCOT, and Wishes! at the Magic Kingdom are a must! Main Street Electrical Parade at Magic Kingdom. If going to Animal Kingdom, be sure to see Festival of the Lion King and Nemo the Musical ( both Broadway caliber shows) as well as Beauty and the Beast at Hollywood Studios. Most of all, take the time to rest and enjoy the magic that only Disney can provide!:joyfull:

Buy the Unofficial Guide, read it, then read it again.

Have a rough outline of what you want to do, but be flexible.

This is probably the best advice given here so far.. Don't be so structured that you take the fun out of it.. but have a general game plan in mind (where you want to eat.. what rides you want to FP+.. what characters you want to meet.. etc..) but don't pin the 'success' of your trip on any of it..

^^^ LOL answer thief! My friend so beyond correct buy, read and read again! It is so helpful for newbies and those that haven't been there for a while. The other thing I'd say to do is start walking every day as soon as you know you are going! And no it's never too early to get in shape for a Disney vacation.

I hate seeing this sentiment because it really sells Disney's quick service offerings short. You're not limited to hot dogs and chicken strips. You can eat roasted chicken, pulled pork, barbecue chicken salad, couscous, vegetarian pita, shawarma, and on and on, all from counter service locations. I still enjoy sit down meals for other reasons, but it's inaccurate to suggest that your only option besides table service is "fast food." You could go for ten days eating only counter service and never touch a french fry.

Try some meals at the resorts, and make sure to ride anything with a wait 15 minutes are left. Many attractions always have short waits, but can be the best rides in the park. Philharmagic, Tiki Room, CoP, Journey of the Little Mermaid, the Epcot WS films, Muppet Vision, and the Animal Kingdom Walking trails are a blast.

Quite right. Some of the best spots for "non-fast food" counter service include Columbia Harbor House at MK, Sunshine Seasons at Epcot, Landscape of Flavors at AoA, Yak & Yeti at DAK, and pretty much any counter service spot in Epcot's World Showcase.

We found using see-through (clear) backpacks and f@nny-packs to be worth their weight in gold. It helps us get through bag check-ins really fast (and they're water-proof!). Security even thanks us. You can grab them on amazon. We always say Disney should sell them. They would make a fortune.

Also - remember you don't have to carry your souvenirs around the park. You can have them sent to the front of the park where you can get them at the end of the day at Guest Relations (just don't forget!) OR if you're staying awhile, you can have them shipped to your room. They'll fill out a slip for you. You take the green receipt and bring it to your gift shop the next day. Your goodies should be there by the next afternoon. You could also just have it shipped home. They say the cost for shipping equals what you would have paid in taxes. If you need to store something, they have lockers. Save your receipt to get your deposit back. Save it also if you're park hopping. They'll honor it in the next park.

If you have little ones, we recommend bringing your own umbrella stroller. Due to Florida's quick changing weather, we also recommend purchasing a stroller cover at Babies for when the "liquid sunshine" hits. Kids can see through the clear plastic and there are vents so they can breathe! The cover folds up and fits in the mesh bag on the back of the stroller.

Enjoy great meals. Check out www.allearsnet.com for menus and reviews. Hug characters. See the parades and fireworks and all night-time shows. Wear your 1st Time pin proudly! Do what you can do. Live in the moment. As others have said, don't worry about not being able to do everything. Just enjoy what you're doing. You know there will be a next time!

Thank you everyone for such great advice. We will definitely find a restaurant for one of the days, and will look for the transparent back packs. There is so much to do we have 14 days at the parks but we will also have time at blizzard beach. We are looking forward to the fireworks and Epcots wine and food festival especially.:joyfull:

Take the time to interact with the CM's you encounter. They can add memories to your trip. Try a bit of pin trading with CM's and other guests. All the parks have a different pace and feel to them, wander around and take the time to investigate all they have to offer. With 14 days you can revisit the parks you find more to your liking. Planning is essential but dont get over obsessed to the point that you lose the fun and leave yourself time to venture out and be spontaneous.
