Best time to visit?

I am thinking of changing my original plans from 8/31-9/7/14 to 9/24-10/1/14. I have numerous reasons but Mickeys not so scary and dining are the biggest factors. Is the week of 9/24 as slow as week of 9/1? We need a slow time to visit.

Probably not quite as slow because of the Halloween stuff, but should be pretty slow. You have to determine whether slowness or the Halloween stuff is important to you. If slowness, go earlier, if Halloween, go later. And you also have to decide how important it is to you.

Also, you'll be able to get the Halloween merchandise in early September; there's just not as much going on

What I can tell you is the first week would be SLOW! Someone else might have a better idea of the crowds in later September

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Actually later September would be smaller crowds. If you go the other week of early Sept that is around Labor Day and schools are still out in some states and plus alot of people take off for vacay around Labor Day. Late Sept all schools are back in and crowds are alot lower, temps although still hot will start to not be as bad, you will have Food & Wine you can attend, and the lists goes on. Lol. If it was me I would definately rather late Sept. :)

Our kids will miss some school, they will either way, but I think I am going in late Sept. We once went from 9/3-9/17 and we waited for nothing! There were no lines at all.

Starting about mid-September until mid-October, you will have a few schools getting out for 'Fall' break. Some of the Atlanta-area schools are out the week of September 16th.

Yeah if they are going to miss school either way I would like I mentioned go the end of Sept. It should be very similiar crowds to when you went in mid Sept. Key word should! Lol Whatever you decide I hope you and your family have a wonderful time!! :)

I was there this past weekend and it was definitely slow. Labor Day weekend doesn't bring in the crowds. I'll be going the next 2 weekends and by the look of all my dining options, it's still going to be slow.

We really enjoy the Monday after Thanksgiving until about a week before Christmas.
Totally agree! That is our fave time as well. We are going this year again in that time frame 12/5-12/16 but on the subject of the thread we also had enjoyed early fall for Food and Wine and the low crowds like in early December. I don't think anyone can go wrong from mid Sept- mid Dec minus of course Thanksgiving week which is crazy busy! Lol :)

We went last year 9/23-9/30 & it was busier than we had hoped! There were a few Halloween parties, the start of F&W, & the TOT 10 miler. The earlier in September the better!

I would vote late September. I'm partial to that time period. We considered going this year from 8/31-9/7, but opted against it because I don't think Florida schools start until after Labor day, so we would've been combating all of the "let's get one more run in" families. The weather is still good in late September and the crowds are low and you get MNSSHP (which is amazing)

I loved MNSSHP! We went on day 2 of a 13 day trip and we had tons of candy to snack on for the rest of the trip!?
