Best time to visit

We're looking at a visit next year(2013). I've been doing some reading and it seems that September is a good time to go but I'm looking for opinions from locals. My wife wants to go during the HM layover period(I don't), so that's something to keep in mind. Actually, how are the first 2 weeks in October? We can't go too late, because it would interfere with cheerleading. Also, are reservations required for the Blue Bayou? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

It's pretty quiet during all of those times. For what it's worth, we went on a rainy Saturday in mid November and had the shortest lines I've ever seen. October has a small burst in lines because of the Halloween additions. I'd probably suggest early September to avoid the unnecessary lines of Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy.

If you're looking to catch Haunted Mansion Holiday, late September would be a nice time to go. The first two weeks in October are also fine. Are you planning on attending one of the Halloween parties? If you are, crowds tend to pick up a bit towards the evening.

Reservations are always a good idea at the Blue Bayou. You can request a waterside table, if you are willing to wait for it, when you check in. When we went, a month ago, our wait for a table on the water was no more than 5 min. The lunch menu is almost identical to the dinner menu and a little less expensive.
