I'm coming from Orlando and working for the mouse I don't like visiting in the heat of summer on during massive crowds.

I plan on making it out west sometime in 2006 once everything is reopened from rehabs and I've got more money saved up for a visit during the celebration.

What month is the best time to go for nice weather and not awful crowds.

Please explain.

September, definitely. Crowds are lower than you see in the summer, temps are nice (mid 80s in California feels quite a bit nicer than mid 80s in Florida!) and there isn't any rain!

I'll go with October because, I'm going to repeat what Kyle wrote, lesser crowds and nice temps...in the 70's. (I think October is the best time to visit California IMO) and plus, Haunted Mansion Holiday will be open. :D

I know I voted in for October, but I forgot that in November the christmas decorations are up and it would be a shame to miss them. The weather is still nice in the 60's and 70's, and the crowds are still light if you avoid the holidays.

What about mid-March? I'm hoping to go in March 2006 for my college spring break. It's earlier than most public school spring breaks (usually a few weeks before the schools here) and Easter is late next year (already checked the calendar and Easter isn't until, I think, mid-April). Does anyone have a guess on what kinds of crowds to expect, if it's a little early for spring break and nearly a month before Easter? The trip isn't official, but I've been pushing real hard for it and dropping a lot of hints (like saying "when we go to disneyland..."). I guess I'm just looking for a little more ammo that it's a good time to go. And, I'm hoping for low crowds. CA is kinda far, and we don't go often (haven't been since I moved away in 1991). I want to see everything that I can.

I think you'd have moderate crowds in March. I went in mid-March 2003 and it wasn't packed, but there were some lengthy lines--especially on weekends. Only think I don't like about March is that it's still pretty cool out in CA--highs near 70.

Thanks!

I can live with moderate crowds, as long as it's still doable. We'd probably try to avoid the weekends, so hopefully the weekend crowds won't be a problem. Highs near 70 are kinda cool, but it's better than here. Last year it snowed one day during spring break, then by the end of the week the weather was decent again. Gotta love KY weather (it snowed this past wednesday and was 60 yesterday  ).
