No Ad is a great brand. They have up to a 60 and you get 16oz for about $9. It is also waterproof. I live in Southern Florida and it's the only brand we use.

I've seen a number of studies looking into the effectiveness of various sunscreens. One of the best is actually Up&Up from Target. We swear by the spray. No burns during August vacations yearly since 2012.

Anything above a 30 (97% blockage) is a bit of a waste. Anything above 50 (99% blockage) is marketing voodoo.

Keep in mind that almost all sunscreens contain avobenzone which, when in contact with iron in the washer (especially if you have hard water), will stain your clothes yellow-orange. That's a rust stain. Don't put it in the dryer (it will set) and bleach makes it worse. Use an anti-rust treatment.

First off I am a Licensed Esthetician so I have tried a lot of products many of which are Dermatologist approved and I have to say my favorite brand is Sun Bum. I usually go for the 30SPF Cream which you should apply at least 30 minutes before venturing out into the sun as well as the UVA/UVB 30 Face Stick which has not caused me to breakout and is great for tattoo protection as well. Then I carry a bottle of 50SPF Spray for reapplication during the day since its just easy to apply while in the parks. As for what I use to soothe burns I really like Trader Joe's Aloe Vera Gel mostly because it doesn't contain added dyes and has a great smell and for really bad burns I like a Chamomile lotion or Calamine lotion just stay away from anything with a strong scent which more than likely contains alcohol which could irritate the burn.

Oh I forgot to mention that Wal-Marts store brand Equate also makes some great and inexpensive sun protection products. I like the Equate Ultra Protection Lotion 50SPF as well as the Spray and I did like the Ultra Protection Clear Zinc Oxide face cream 50SPF though it was thick (clogged pores) and I broke out a little.

I've used the Equate Sport 50spf for the last year or so, and it works great for me. It rubs in fairly easily and has a subtle "generic suntan lotion" scent.
