For a solo traveler with a rental car (don't need to be close to a bus stop)? What's the big difference between Prefferred & Standard at Pop? I just want a King bed

Preferred rooms are in the 60's and 70's buildings. I believe a prefered room is located within 500 or 750 feet (cannot remember which number is correct) of the main building. The way Pop Century is set up, none of the rooms are all that far from the main building.

When we went at Christmastime, we asked for a King Bed, we were in the 80s building near the pool, just a short walk to the parking lot. We figured why spend more on a preferred when we can just get a King bed in any room. We had never been to Pop so we didn't know the better buildings to request, we would stay in our same building again, it was close to the food court, parking lot and buses.

If you book online with Disney.com you will be going through the Walt Disney Travel Company. I am not sure how they work room requests. If you call 407-WDISNEY you can always put a request in but they can't guarantee it. I don't know how many king beds are available at Pop, but I am going to guess the supply is limited.
