Our son will be having his 7th birthday during our upcoming trip to WDW. Any suggestions on the best restaurant to celebrate with him at?

Any restaurant is fun.. the SciFi restaurant is neat at Magic Kingdom... he may like that just because you sit in cars (it's like a drive in theater) and you eat on the tables.. you're like in a 4 seater convertible... and there is a big screen in front of you! I bet he'd like that! Otherwise, take him to Whispering Canyons at the Wilderness Lodge.. YUMMY! You'd enjoy the great family-style dinner!

Just to clairify, SciFi is at MGM. ;)

But I agree - it's a great place for burgers/shakes/fries.

I had a great birthday dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table last year. It was just amazing and cool and special and they put ribbon and mickey-ear confetti on the table for me and brought me a mickey bundt cake with a candle after the meal. It was a warm and fuzzy day. ;)

I vote for Chef Mickey's. I was just at WDW in March celebrating my best friend's birthday and Chef Mickey's does a great job. They brought her a placemat signed by all the characters and then Goofy delivered a cupcake. Even though she's a "big kid" (she turned 35! ), she loved every minute of it. All the characters came over and hugged her and it was just so much fun.

Be sure to get a birthday button for him at Guest Services at whatever park you visit that day. You never know what kindof extra surprises you might get from cast members who notice it.

When I visited Magic Kingdom for my birthday last year I had lunch at the Crystal Palace. My server bought me a birthday cupcake with a candle in it and a card signed by all the Pooh characters. Was hilarious considering I was clebrating my 30th birthday!

I also got to "drive" the boat when I rode Jungle Cruise and our skipper decided to embarrass the bejebus out of me by doing this hokey birthday song/rap thing. Was so funny.

Had a few extra fun moments with various characters who noticed the button. Tigger, Pooh, Rafiki and Piglet were some of the funniest.

If you would like to have a birthday dining experience that the whole family will love go for the Hoop-de-doo Revue at Ft. Wilderness.

The food is all you can eat, the show is great fun and there is a special section in the show where the cast asks if there are any birthdays in the audience. A big deal is made over the birthday people and the entire audience sings happy birthday. The whole experience is tons of fun.

I second the Whispering Canyon. Chef Mickeys is a good idea, but your son may get lost in the hustle and bustle of the 98,000,000 other children that will be in there as well. While Whispering Canyon soesnt have characters, their waitstaff are characters in of itself and will probably heap more attention on your child than at Chef Mickeys.
