Best resort with activities

I would have put this in the forum "for kids" but my eldest really isn't that young. I am in the process of attempting to determine best resort for my family to stay in for the first week in January. We do not know how much park time the youngest can handle, so I need the resort to have some really fun things for them in case she can't handle it. (She's a total tank, I think she can hang but just not certain). I prefer deluxe but moderate would work too.

I have focused in on the Wilderness Lodge, the Yacht Club, and then my more frugal side says Port Orleans - Riverside. My concern on the latter is that there doesn't appear to be a lot going on in close proximity.

Any feedback/advice is welcome. I literally dreamt about this last night and woke up stressed. Thank you in advance!

AKL has a ton of activities going on, plus of course all the animal watching they could want. There are things like cookie decorating, drumming, kitchen tours, the night-time vision binoculars in the evenings and “bead activities” during the afternoon (crafty type stuff, where they earn beads). Plus Kidani has the community hall, so there is stuff going on there. The CMs are only too happy to chat about the animals and their home countries. And there is a tour of the art around the escort, which I believe is the largest collection of African Art anywhere in the US.

WL is close to the Fort where there are more outdoor type activities to do, albeit at a price. But even looking around the stables and the blacksmith, as well as the horses is fun to do. And you can take a boat right around Bay Lake, and across to MK and from there do a tour of the monorail resorts - by boat or monorail. All of that is free to do.

Our Family's favourite deluxe resort is the Polynesian Resort with tons of activities and is on the monorail. But any deluxe resort will be amazing so just pick your favourite! If you are looking for something a little less expensive, my kids' favourite Moderate resort is POFQ which has a dragon pool and a splash area and a ton of other activities:
  • Beignet Dash” Fun Run
  • Disney Trivia Night
  • Painting on de’ Bayou
  • Yoga on the Lawn
  • Glow with the Flow Pool Party
  • Arts & Crafts or Mickey Tie-Dye T-shirt decoration
  • SassagoulaSelfie Scavenger Hunt
  • French Quarter Pumpkin Patch Scavenger Hunt
  • movie on the lawn
  • camfire at night
  • bicycling
  • horse carriage rides$$
It also has a boat to Disney Springs which has tons more activities that your kids will enjoy for free.
I prefer French Quarter to Riverside because it is smaller and less crowded and much more manageable but they are sister resorts so you can use facilities from both.
