While many people have differing opinions on the what is the best place to watch Epcot fireworks, the simplest answer is anywhere on lagoon promenade where the wind is not blowing. Sure, certain places along the promenade might place you twenty or so feet closer to the various barges and then there are those who insist on locations like World Showcase Plaza or the Bridge between France and the UK. The fact is, those locations are worthless if you're going to get a face full of smoke so stand upwind. Keep in mind that during the summer, usually the prevailing winds at show time are out of the E to SE. Your best indicator of which way the wind is blowing is the flag on top of the American Adventure.

Best place to watch would be anywhere along the front half of World Showcase (from Norway to Canada). Find a spot between those two countries that is up-wind and where your view of the lagoon and sky is not blocked by trees, buildings, umbrellas, etc. Enjoy the show!

From a helicopter hovering over SSE. 4th of July fireworks are super crowded at WDW. You could not pay me to deal with those crowds.

Hey, thats an idea! Just take the elevator up to hatch on top of SSE. You could watch the fireworks from Epcot, MK, AND DHS all from one spot! Its perfect!

Probably silly to suggest reservations at the Rose & Crown at this point. They've most likely been booked up for months.
It's going to be incredibly crowded, as others have pointed out.

My strategy would be different than the previous posters.
You don't have to be right up near to the lagoon to watch Illuminations.
I would go all the way around to the far side of the World Showcase lagoon, on either side of the American pavilion. The view of the lagoon is blocked by the America Gardens Theatre.

One side is Japan, one side is Italy. The view is better from Italy. The reason I would do this is simple. After the fireworks are over, the massive exodus is bad. I mean thousands and thousands of tired people pressing towards the exit. If you are as far from the exit as possible, (which is the American pavilion) all you have to do is find a secluded bench to wait about 15 or 20 minutes and the crowd will flow away from you, pretty quickly.

You could also attempt to book an Illuminations Cruise, but I think it's too late for that, unless you can find one to share.

Have a Magical trip!
