Best non-Disney hotels within walking distance

Hey there. I’m sure this had been discussed before but I went a few pages in and can’t find anything. We are probably going to Disneyland later this year but the resort prices are totally restrictive ($400 to nearly $700 a night). Does anyone have experience with nearby hotels, within walking distance? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks in advance:

If you're ok with a fairly no-frills space, Park Vue Inn is right across the street from the resort on Harbor Blvd. and is pretty darn good for a place in such a prime location.

Right behind Park Vue is Desert Inn, which isn't quite as nice (kind of thin walls, I thought) but can have pretty good pricing.

I haven't stayed there personally, and it's certainly further away than the others, but I have had nothing but great experiences with Hyatt, so if the price is right on the Hyatt House at the corner of Harbor and Katella, I'd certainly be open to that.

There are a lot, super close. I used to stay at the Red Roof (it’s been years, not sure if it’s still there) but there’s like a whole street of hotels basically a block or two away. Very easy. Various price ranges. I had to go with Red Roof because it was one of the first chains to take pets.

I've stayed at a few and they are all basic but close. They have all been clean too. The closest is Best Western Park Place Inn, this is where I usually stay now because it is the closest to the park. Others that have been good and located on Harbor Blvd have been: Best Western Anaheim Inn, Howard Johnson, and Candy Cane Inn. I used to stay at Best Western Stovall's Inn, that is located on Katella and there is a walking path that goes past the Grand Californian and Paradise Pier Hotel. It had an interesting pool area and was cheaper than the hotels on Harbor but the walk was longer, especially when they cracked down on cutting through the Grand Californian in the morning (it wasn't a problem later in the day). It isn't a bad walk though, but if I stay at the Park Place on Harbor I can usually be from the turnstile to my room in about 5 minutes +/- a minute or two.

There are lots of choices, but I would recommend the Best Western Park Place. It’s insanely close and is cheaper than all the on-site hotels. This is the only hotel I’ve stayed at that’s directly across the street, so I can’t speak on the others. I stayed at Clementine once, which is a 20+ minute walk away. I enjoyed my stay there.

I’ve gotten really good deals on Priceline for the Fairfield Inn right across Harbor Boulevard. I’ve had good experiences there it’s an older hotel building but it has been renovated nicely. I had a view of space mountain from my room one of the times I stayed there.

I stayed at the Desert Inn once - it was fine and you can’t beat the location but it’s a little too “old motel vibe” for me.

My personal favorite that I’ve stayed at many times is the Hilton by the Convention Center. It’s a 10 minute walk, I usually take the ART bus that picks up right at the convention center.

The Howard Johnsons across the street from Disneyland has a great Tomorrowland feel. You can even watch the monorail go by from the pool.

Basically Disneyland is surrounded by hotels. Most are pretty good. There are some that offer hourly rates that your should probably avoid.

Here is a nice ranking.
