Hey all,

I was at Best Buy last night and my girlfriend surprised me with a small present, a Sony Bloggie Touch. Looked awesome, sleek, Sony image quality... pump the brakes, only problem... doesn't work with MAC, really?

So now we're going to return and replace with another product.

What do people here use?

I liked the Kodak Play only because it's waterproof to 10 feet, but I have read reviews of the tripod grooves being plastic, stripping, and making your tripod useless... I HATE camera shake.

My experience with Flip-type devices is that they are not very good. Lack of image stabilization makes it very shakey, even with the steadiest of hands. Image quality appears to be around that of a recent smartphone, such as the iPhone 4. If you are looking for something that can deliver decent video, get a camcorder. Some of them are very tiny and cost is way down.

I agree... this was a spur of the moment purchase and I can't find a single product that has a completely positive side to it.

1.) flips have internal batteries that can't be replaced or removed, the battery life is 2 hrs but the player is able to shoot 4 hours... how does that make sense!

2.) kodak playsport is waterproof, shoots 1080P but the tripod threads are plastic! ..... they strip in a month.

3.) sony doesn't work wit MAC

I am just going to have to her return it, and give me 200 dollars to put towards a camcorder.

Boggie and Mac

I have a Bloggie and it works with both my Macbook and Mac mini.

i liked the fact the Bloggie records onto SD and for the most part have been pleased with videos. I will tell you if you go this route make sure you get a high speed card for the best video capture. I had a 4 and it was kinda choppy, but when I switched to a 10 it got really good.

With that being said, its not the same as a true video camera, but the ease of just having a small video camera that also shoots pretty good stills was too nice for me to pass up.
