I have reservations for breakfast this December at Kona Cafe. After hearing about some other options, I'm back with a question. Is Kona worth it if you can't eat the Tonga Toast? I have a yeast allergy so I can't have french toast (or bread in general). I can have pancakes and waffles. So is Kona still worth it? If no, what are some other options. I do prefer sweet things for breakfast as opposed to eggs. Thank you! :D

Not to be a downer, but always ask if the waffles are yeasted or not. My sister, a chef, makes yeasted waffles in her restaurant. So I guess I'm trying to say that you can't be too sure. I've never run into it at Disney myself, but at signature dining I wouldn't find it unusual at all if they crop up every now and then.

Crush Dude!

I'm not sure if I had the macadamia pancakes, but always heard they're good. If someone else wants to try it, The Samoan is the bomb if made by a good chef. Have heard some people didn't get a good one compared to other times.

Love to have some Kona coffee and hop on the monorail over to MK or back around to TTC and over to Epcot. That's some old school Disney right there!

Kona is always our first meal (breakfast) of every Disney vacation. Believe it or not, I don't get the tonga toast, usually get the Big Kahuna (a little bit of everything .. eggs, potatoes, ham, sausage, bacon, macadamia nut pancakes, partridge in a pear tree... you get the idea LOL) It's big enough for two, easily!! The ham and cheese omelette is huge, fluffy and delish!!!!! There are several wonderful selections at Kona for breakfast. I am sure, you will love it!!

I'm going to second the BIg Kahuna vote. It is the best thing on the menu in my opinion.

Consider Boma as well. It is a buffet, but for me it is the best breakfast on property.

I'm voting for Fresh Mediterranean at the Dolphin Resort. Everything you can possibly think of in a breakfast buffet including fresh made juice combinations and omelets made to order.

I would give a vote for Boma too. A good way to do Boma is to go to Animal Kingdom when there is early entry and do some stuff there for awhile and then go over to the Lodge for breakfast.

Actually, we're going to be staying at Kidani Village, so I might have to look into this!

We're using DVC, so the Dolphin isn't an option :( Thanks though!

Just made the switch to Boma. After considering my food restrictions and the fact that we'll be staying at Kidani the night before, it just made more sense. We'll see how many times I make reservation changes between now and December... I think I have a problem

the grand cafe at the grand Floridian is one of the best kept secrets. i always make reservations but its never crowded. its amazing and the prices not so bad. i also love ohana and whispering canyons. they are so much fun. your choice of boma is perfect because it has many options on the buffet. also you may want to contact them ahead of time with your allergy. disney is very good about accommodations and letting you know whats off limits :)
