I hope this is in the right place. If not please move it.
I've been considering applying for a few jobs at WDW and was wondering if there is a designated place that they have you reside. Or if its up to you to pick a nice apartment complex, etc nearby.

If anyone can help with this please let me know!
THANKS~~:)

This will be moved to the cast member/employment forum in a little bit...

It depends on what you are doing for Disney. If you are on the college program then you are going to be offered housing at one of Disney's complexes. You will pay for it out of your check each week.

If you are just applying for a part time or full time job, you are on your own to find housing. Disney of course cannot mandate where you live since they have no control (nor do they really care). You only need to make sure you are somewhere that will be geographically logical to WDW.

Don't they prefer that you live withine 45 minutes of the property? I had heard that a long time ago.

There are tons of places around the area for housing. It just depends on what you are looking for. We settled right next to Universal in an apartment which is only 15 minutes for me, door to door, working at Epcot. Apartments.com, rent.com and forrent.com is what we went by.

There are also lots of income-based properties that people stay in. Don't thow the idea away. Just remember you won't be getting paid much at Disney so it isn't a bad idea. Just be careful of places that rip you off. We applied for one called Sol Caliente and their sister property Luna Dulche in Clermont. After paying a non-refundable application fee of $90 they denied us for making too much income. They knew we made more than they allowed before we gave them the money (we visited the property and did a prescreening) but they waited until after we paid them to deny us. :fork:

As long as you make it to your shift, you could commute an hour or more. However, the commute gets old, and Orlando/LBV traffic can be unpredictable as people don't know how to drive (locals are bad enough, but get near parks where there are tourists trying to navigate...:brick:) Right now, Disney is on a hiring freeze. They just elimated many jobs, and jobs that were open for new hires have been elminated:

I certainly do not want to discourage you from applying, but please be aware the outlook is bleak at least for the near future. When I moved here in May '07, Casting (A Disney building across from Downtown Disney) held a job fair. I don't know if they'll host one again this year, but it wouldn't hurt to keep an eye out! Best of luck!
