Behind the Seeds Tour

I could of sworn a member said they went on that tour a week or two back? It's the same member who posted the Fastpass Soarin pictures. I'm confused.

Previews of the tour are already in progress. When I got off of Soarin' today, there was a sign outside The Land saying "get a sneak preview of the Behind the Seeds tour" or something like that. It was also free of charge, which is different from how the tour is usually run.

I thought it was worth it

I'm happy to hear that they've resumed - I really enjoyed it - enough so that I'm considering going again some time - OmegaKnight is correct that there is usually a fee, but it's not bad - I think it was $5 or $7

Thank goodness.

I posed in the planning forum asking about this and no one replied.

I'm going on a trip with a relative who really likes animals and really likes gardening. I was all set to book her on a behind the scenes at AK when the other day over breakfast she told me she's not that excited about seeing the animals, but more excited about seeing "The Land" again because she loved all the exotic growing.

I guess instead of a $60 AK tour she gets the bargain basement "Behind the Seeds" and a nice meal after that instead. ;)

Too bad the Garden Grill won't be open until June, though. :(

I used to host Behind the Seeds, so I am VERY glad to see their return. Here's to hoping the Land is better than ever (Crosses fingers)

I'm confused?
1. Is this the tour that we take in a boat? They don't charge you before.
2. Is it a behind behind, like Magic to the Kingdom?
3. How much will it cost?
4. Do they made any changes?

1. The boat tour, "Living With The Land", is still there, and is, of course, included with park admission like all other regular attractions.

2. Yes, it is a behind the scenes tour where you get to walk around some of the greenhouses you only get to glimpse on the boat tour.

3. I believe it's $8 for an hour tour, but I don't know if it's changed yet.

4. Not sure, as I haven't done it before. I'm sure more reports will come soon!

All,

We are excited to announce that the Behind the Seeds Tour is back and is available to book immediately for tours beginning May 5, 2005.

Bring your entire family! Go backstage to explore the four greenhouses and the fish farm at The Land at Epcot®. See what happens when you combine Disney imagination with science know-how and green thumbs! Test your senses with an herb-and-spice challenge and a taste-test of one of our vegetables; then visit our fish farm during feeding time and check out the alligators, too! Kids--release lady bugs that protect our plants, and sprout a seed in your pocket to start your own garden when you get home! Bring your camera to capture close-up views of amazing crops from around the world and gigantic fruits and vegetables...all grown without soil! Join your guide on a discovery tour of some of the latest plant-growing techniques, and take home ideas for growing your own gardens.

Behind the Seeds is available daily at 10:30 am, 12:00 pm, 1:30pm, 3:00pm, 4:30pm (Tour times are subject to change depending on demand and time of year). The tour can accommodate up to 13 Guests per tour and lasts approximately 1 hour.

Behind the Seeds is an amazing experience at an amazing price! Guests 10 and over, $12.00 and Guests 3 - 9, $10.01. All taxes are included.

Due to the nature of the tour being within the Land Pavilion, and the anticipated increase in attendance for Soarin', the following will be proactively spieled to our Guests:

Guests should plan to arrive at The Land pavilion 15 minutes prior to the beginning of their tour. During very busy times, Guest access to the pavilion
may be limited due to capacity issues. If this occurs, Guests should give
their name and show their tour confirmation number to the Greeter at the
front door of The Land. This will give the tour Guests priority entrance into
the building as other Guests leave. If access to the pavilion is not limited,
Guests may enter the pavilion. All tour Guests should then go to the lower
level of The Land, and proceed to the Tour Desk to the left of the Soarin' exit. They will need to show their confirmation number to the Cast Member there.

They got approval! I know having the herb test and taste tests were things we wanted to do before. It sounds like they got the approval to add these things in. This is a price increase of about $4, but with these things, it is well worth it. I am glad they are taking this tour more seriously. I will be interested to see how the queue area is redone because the old walkway is now part of Soarin's queue. CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK DOWN AND SEE IT!

Uh oh, are they really expecting it to get so bad at times that guests will have to wait to get inside the Land itself?

Wow that is amazing you get a tour and a quick "lunch" for 12 bucks. :) Honestly though I can't wait to get their at the end of april to check the tour out, and to of course check out the "new" Land Pavilion.

Hey I just made 100 posts :)
Sorry for the off topic comment.

I've actually seen them do this before. It was a few years ago, but on New Year's Eve there was actually a line just to get INTO the pavilion it was that crowded. I anticipate crowds entering the pavilion will be increased on an average day with Soarin' being added, but thankfully most of the new bodies will be shuffled into the VERY long Soarin' queue which has its own emergency exits, etc which should greatly increase the overall pavilion capacity. So hopefully they won't be closing the pavilion for capacity issues much more than they used to.

Thanks for all the great new info.

At $12 it's still a good deal. Actually, that brings it in line with the other tours - $60 for a 5 hour tour = $12/hour, and this is only 1 hour.

I'll be calling in the AM to make some ressies - I was planning on sending the rest of my party on the tour and doing something else for the hour, but this thread has sold me - I'm going too!
