Beerfest

I just returned from Beerfest at Citywalk... It was nuts! And not in a good way! The average wait for us was about 40 minutes per 2 ounce beer!

They were telling people that Saturday's event was sold out. I think they oversold the event this year! I've never seen it like that. It was not worth the money or time there to deal with the amount of people and only get 8 samples for $40.

Better Luck next year NBC!

Isn't that Universal's MO on events like this, overselling the event? I went to HHN 13 a few years ago, way too crowded, that's why I've never gone back. But isn't this par for course...?

it would have been considered sold out by previous years' standards. They raised the number of tickets to sell, hence why only 1 night sold out.

When I was at HHN13, it was a 2-3 hour wait for most of the Haunted Houses. Now, I did go on a weekend, but I heard that the wait times were basically the same during the weekdays.

I've been hearing the same thing about every one of their events, even the HHN.

That is one thing I like about Disney, they seem to have a limit on the number of tickets available to for their events, such as Not-So-Scary. Although, I think that number has been slowly going up, but not as bad as Universal.

Actually sales were really low this year compared to previous years', especially last year where they had over 50,000+ people on some nights... we never officially sold out this year, in fact the largest attendence number I ever heard from my manager was 38,000... IOA can hold about 42,000... so we never officially sold out... most nights were between 15-25,000 though...

But yes, if there's alcohol involved, prepare for crowds...

really... we have conflicting information from different managers

The night that I went to HHN it was pretty crowded for a "non-peak night" (thursday) Luckily my roomate was a lead at one the houses and got us express passes for free. I dont think that I would have waited in those lines for the haunted houses. Some of them were good but others were lackluster.

Back to the original post about the beerfest....

After the first one, my pub stopped attending. Compared to other "beerfests" or beer tastings, this was probably the worst one I have ever attended. Coming from a small brewpub in Florida we like to have reps from our pub at the booth. The organizers didn't want this and had people pouring the beer that knew nothing about our product. Add in the fact that there are 30-40 min waits for a 2 ounce sample, it just wasn't worth it.

I have yet to hear anything positive about the event, yet it still draws the crowds.

The Florida Brewers Guild will be having a beerfest the first weekend in March. Much smaller event, but a great time.
