What was/is the Beastly Kingdom I heard a rumour ages ago that it was to be a large land at AK but it got scraped after the costs got to high. Where was it to be, personally I think it should be over the top of Camp Minnie-Mickey. Also wasn't an Australia section rumoured at some point.

You're right on all points. It was/is in the area of Camp MM, and it has been postponed....

Australia was also rumored as the next land...although there has never really been a solid rumor on that one.

Cool, do you now if they had any idea of what the attractions were going to be, I can seen to remember only one, a maze based on the Minotaur.

I sure hope they do build the Beastly Kingdom, but only if they're going to do it right. I want to see dragons and unicorns and such that appear to be real because they've been created by Disney at Disney's best. But the last thing I want to see is a Dumbo ride with dragons instead of elephants.

I think its inevitable it will be built because of all the things they have related to different dragons and such throughout the park. They even have a store called the Beastly Bazaar and they have those little dragons statues and more things. Australia is also a good bet becasue they could use the Soarin' technology they have and build a ride over the outback. Also a Jaws type ride but with a Crocodile.

Beastly Kingdom has to be the next built land at AK. I think Disney has gotten too much pressure from people like us to build it. I mean they have a dragon in the AK logo and at the ticket booths!! Although I would love to see an Australian land, I think Beastly Kingdom is higher on the priority list.

Also, when are they gonna recognize the Ocean & its residents???

Gwazi...

If they did it, they should build two rollercoasters, a steel and wooden. The wooden one should be themed like Gwazi, just not a racer.

Any thoughts?

I found out from a few websites that beastly kingdom had many attractions that were identicle to many ioa attractions (Dueling Dragons, etc.). The problem was, since beastly kingdom was delayed to open until phase II of Animal Kingdom b/c of money constraints (now delayed till phase III), ioa had already been built by the very same people and ideas that were to furnish beastly kingdom back in '96. One of the premier rides was a inverted roller coaster themed after a dragon chase through an enchanted castle. But the idea was scraped b/c of ioa and all.

I dont really buy that theory based on the following..

1. Duelling Dragons was built by B&M, the coaster company. Disney have no arrangement with this company, Disney use either Vekoma of Intamin for coaster track fabrication.

2. Imagineerings coaster was to be a highly themed indoor coaster. Duelling Dragons consists of a themed line, but nothing more. Seems the ideas ran out for the actual ride!

3. I dont beleive Disney really give a damn what IOA are doing. If WDI have an attraction that they want to do, a similar theme at IOA would not stop them. Example would be Jurrasic Park at IOA and Dinosaur at AK. So jstu because IOA has a dragon coaster, I see now rerason why AK cannot have a dragon coaster. Particularly when I believe the WDI version would be superior.

I think I posted somewhere but I can't keep track of my 169 posts.

From Screamscape:

2004-Beastly Kingdom- (8/5/01) In an interview with Laughingplace.com Paul Pressler confirmed that a new land and E-Ticket attraction were in the works for the Animal Kingdom park in 2004. No further details were given, but we can only assume at this point that it will be long awaited Beastly Kingdom section or a new replacement concept.
