My 8 y/o granddaughter and I are doing a 4 day stay in August before she goes back to school. We're planning to spend one whole day just relaxing at the resort, using the pool etc...When we go together (just the two of us) I like to include her in as much of the planning as I can. She saw the pool at Beach club and is asking to stay there. My question is for those of you who have stayed there with kids, how hard is it to keep an eye on them when using the main pool? It will be just the 2 of us and I don't always like to stay in the pool the entire time. She's old enough to go on the slide alone but I'd never let her in the water without my being able to see her. When we stayed at the poly last year, for instance, I was able to be in the water where she came off the slide or poolside where I could see the same thing. She's a good swimmer but she just turned 8 and I just don't let a child I'm responsible for out of my sight for all the obvious reasons.

Watching the kids around the pool wasn't too bad. We parked on some loungechairs and ir is definitely divided into sections so the kids knew to stay within view. The slide was actually my main issue. The stairs to climb up are outside the gated pool area and across the walkway. When I took my kids to the pool when my husband was back in the room, we "crossed the street" and climbed the slide stairs together and then I went down first to be in the pool when they came out. There's a lifeguard at the top of the slide to tell them when they can go down. I was not comfortable letting my 6 and 8 year old leave the pool area and cross a walkway to go to the slide themselves.
