Beach Club or Boardwalk

So, we are going to be renting DVC points for next year. We can't decide between BW or BC. BC is about $300-$400 more expensive than BW. Which do you prefer?

Depends a lot on what amenities you're looking for, time of year, etc. We love Beach Club but also Like Boardwalk almost as much. If we are staying and not swimming, we 'll usually stay at Boardwalk.

This is assuming that the BWV is going from a standard view? Otherwise the pricing should be similar (similar points and price per point usually for each). Keep in mind standards are harder to get and you need to rent those at 11 months if at all possible.

I ever so slightly prefer Beach Club because it's more quiet. I dislike the lack of usable balconies at BCV and the food choices at BC are pretty pathetic. Though the newer marketplace at YC might be okay. The BC Marketplace is pathetic now for QS foods. I love the quiet pool at BCV and the solarium as well as the pool table to use. It's a very laid back vibe.

Boardwalk I actually love for the Community Hall and the ability to sometimes get standard views. Though some of the standard views near to the lobby are louder and make me not want to use the balcony. Ample Hills rocks and puts B&C to shame. The pool is far more usable for an average family too. I have my issues with SAB (highly crowded, limited shade, too spread out and the slide being outside the pool stinks). I really do like the quiet pool even more at BWV than BCV. It is noisier in general and you always have to go outside for real food for the most part (not including one of the best lounges, but that isn't a real QS location). The walk to DHS is much nicer and the walk to Swan and Dolphin (great food options) is shorter too.

So really if you can get standard view at BWV, go for that first IMO. Otherwise flip a coin.

When I was planning my upcoming trip, I wanted to stay at one of the 3 Epcot resorts. I weighed the pros and cons of each. Ultimately I chose Beach Club. I wanted a water view and Boardwalk seemed great, but I heard it gets loud at night from the partying on the boardwalk where people sit and drink out on the tables. Plus the pool is meh. That clown...

Also, the Boardwalk isn't exactly "connected" to the shops and restaurants. You have to go outside and then around to get to it. Not a huge deal but still.

Beach Club, closer to Epcot, and that pool ....that pool is amazing and you can still walk over to the Boardwalk to check out all the action. We're going for 11 days and a couple of days we're spending at the resort and pool so the pool decision was MAJOR.

It took me practically an entire month to decide. I read so many reviews, watched videos and video blogs.

$300-$400 over how many nights?
5 nights. I was comparing the standard view at BW to the BC villa price. Trying to decide if the extra $300 would be worth it.

We would be going for the standard room at BW. Although we enjoy a good balcony, the view isn't really a make it or break it for us.

Boardwalk! I prefer the atmosphere and being attached to so much entertainment steps from your door.
Have you stayed there with your son? I know he and Gracie are close in age and if he liked it she probably would too.

Does anyone know approximately how long the walk is from BW to Epcot? I know I read that BC was closer and was around a 10 minute walk.

No, I have not stayed there since 2009 with adults only.
But, T and I spent some time on the Boardwalk last year, then walked thru BWI to get an Uber. I asked him what he thought of the area, hotel decor, and showed him a photo of the pool, and he said “Yes, this area is awesome. WE HAVE TO STAY HERE NEXT TIME! That slide looks EPIC!”

I have stayed at YC several times with friends, but not since 9+ years ago. My issue with YC/Beach Club/Stormalong Bay with T is -I know he would be out of my sight constantly and I’d be looking for him, at the very least- it wouldn’t be relaxing. If Gracie will stay near you, then go for it if you’re leaning that way. Maybe show her photos? (I have not shown photos of Stormalong Bay to T)

They’re both great resorts so you can’t go wrong either way. :)

The girl loves a good slide! :hilarious::hilarious: I'm the same whenever she gets out of my sight near water. I know she is a good swimmer, but I have mini heart attacks when I can't lay eyes on her within a few seconds of looking. I think we are going to do 2 nights at the Poly and then 5 nights at BW. I really like the flexibility of not having to bus/shuttle/drive to the parks.

Imo, you’re staying at the hotels with the 2 best slides in all of WDW. :). I think that’s a good decision. Can’t wait to read the trip report!! Is this trip a land/sea combo, or is the cruise on a different date?

The hotels are so close to each other and both on the boardwalk, so I'd personally pick Boardwalk simply because of the savings.

~$75/night isn't negligible, IMO. These are both deluxe resorts with nearly identical location, and it really seems to come down to use of SAB, and/or theming preference.

We just came back off the cruise! Plan on getting the pictures off my camera this weekend and finishing up the trip report! I can say I was definitely not jealous of the sunburned/exhausted people that came straight from the parks.

I didn’t even see the report started!! I’ll look for it! I’ve been staying away from the park reports, scared I’ll break my “no WDW in 2018” resolution if I read them.:hilarious: That doesn’t apply to cruise reports though!

Depending on when you're going, you could have an issue getting a reservation. It might come down to what one is available. I wanted to stay at Boardwalk for the marathon next year but that wasn't happening so I'll be staying at Poly.
