Be Our Guest Dinner

Hello everyone!

I have dinner at Be Our Guest and have not gone since the new Prix Fix dinner was introduced. I just wanted to know if anyone had dish recommendations or dishes I should definitely stay away from? I do not eat dark meat or chicken, so those are off the table, mostly focusing on veggie or seafood dishes.

For specifics: has anyone tried the French Onion Soup, Lobster Bisque, octopus or escargot? I cannot decide on my appetizer. For the entree, has anyone tried the Seafood Bouillabaisse or the Ricotta Tortellini?

Thank you so much in advance!

I went to BOG solo for dinner about 3 weeks ago. Had the charred octopus, filet and a glass or two of Banfi Rosa Regale.

I wasn't impressed with the octopus. The texture was great, tender not chewy, but it was very underseasoned. It needed a bit of spicy, red pepper heat or something like that. Just too bland. If I go again, I'll try the escargot.

Thank you! I am leaning towards the escargot to try something new!

If you are on a dining plan BOG is a very poor choice to spend two meal credits on. Prix Fix cost is $55 for an adult. The cost of a whole day on the Deluxe dining plan is $116. Table service credits are supposedly have a value of about $41, so you would be spending $82 for a $55 meal. If you do go, pay out of pocket, not with meal plan credits.

BOG dinner is two credits now?

We used our dining plan years ago when dinner was still one credit...worth it! Now, no! Lunch for one QS credit- absolutely worth it! For the food AND atmosphere - ask for the West Wing! IMO, the West Wing is the best seat in the house. :)
Why is the West Wing the best? Can you ask for that in the reservation process, or do you just ask when you arrive?

Why is the West Wing the best?
We love the West Wing because of the atmosphere. It's dark and mysterious! There is a thunderstorm outside, and the lightening flashes occasionally. This is the room which displays the enchanted rose with its magical petals falling one by one (my DD wanted to watch and watch and watch....until the last petal....) On one wall, hangs the claw-torn painting of the young prince....watch this one closely when the thunder roars and lightening flashes. Though some say the West Wing may scare small children, mine LOVED it...now it is probably one of our favorite spots in all of WDW!

Thank you for the recommendations everyone! I went and ended up having an amazing meal! Sharing my experience in case anyone is interested! I was not on the dining plan, and from what I hear, the new Prix Fixe prices are very similar to the price range from the previous menu so while the change affected those on the DDP, it is still relatively the same for those paying out of pocket. Granted, it is a very pricey meal.

Atmosphere:
I did not request a room when making a reservation, I think there is no way to, the only request you can make is regarding food allergies, correct me if i'm wrong. However upon checking in before the bridge I asked the hostess if I could request the Ballroom, she called the main hostess stand inside the castle and gave me an answer right away. Now, I requested the Ballroom because I am a big fan of the movie and really wanted to dine in the iconic ballroom, even though I knew it was the most crowded of all the rooms. This is true, the ballroom is very crowded and noisy, yet stunning. I personally loved it, but if you want more peace and quiet the other two rooms are best. The West Wing was perfectly described by @Spoon full of Sugar and I love it, but it was not the atmosphere I was looking for since it was a special occasion. The room is stunning and more secluded than the main ballroom and still very themed for fans of the movie, but it might be too dark for some. The Rose Room (?) is the third room and its very light and cute, reminds me of a french café. The room does not exist in the movie but it has cute paintings of Belle and the Beast. This room is also less crowded than the ballroom, I personally like this room but think its more of a lunch room. The good news is that you are more than welcome to tour the entire castle, including all three rooms, after your meal, so no matter where you dine you can enjoy the entirety of the atmosphere. If you go during the holidays, the ballroom will be decorated for christmas and will have the tree from The Enchanted Christmas.

Service:
As for service, I had the best waiter, not only that but every CM I interacted with were great. As I said, right at check-in they helped me seated at the Ballroom and even though they said reservations were running late, we got a text to head to the gates almost instantly. As they walked me to my table they gave me a tour of the castle and explained a bit about the history and what to expect from the meal. All in all they were very sweet and attentive and stuck to the theme, even making some BATB jokes. Since I was celebrating, my waiter even brought out a card signed from Belle and the Beast with extra Grey Stuff, making the evening even more special.

Food:
As said before, the menu is now Prix Fixe, and they will make sure to remind you multiple times, starting with check-in. You get a choice of an appetizer, a choice of entrée and a sampling of three desserts. For the appetizers I went for the escargot and the octopus since I wanted to get the most bang for my buck. The escargot was good, it was my first time trying it so I have nothing to compare and cannot say if it holds up to what it is supposed to be. I loved the garlicky taste but did not love the dish overall, I am glad I tried it but will not order again. The octopus, I loved. It seemed rough when I was trying to cut it but upon biting it it was perfectly cooked, not chewy at all. The potatoes it came with were delicious as well, and their vinaigrette-y taste matched very well. For the meal I ordered the seafood bouillon (almost like a stew) and it was delicious, the fish and seafood were cooked perfectly. However, there was only one cooked potato as a side. All in all I would definitely order again. My SO got the lamb chop and I could not taste it but he loved it, it used to come with a cauliflower purée (? might have been another veggie and I cannot recall) and that was the star for me, amazing. Sadly, I just checked and the whole menu seems to have changed so most of the dishes I mentioned are gone. From past visits I have tried the French Onion Soup and it is truly delicious.

For the dessert, oh my god, it is so cute. We got an almond macaron with a raspberry preserve, a white chocolate "chip" cup filled with the grey stuff (it's delicious!) and a dark chocolate truffle. The way it is plated is stunning, they all come on top of an edible rice paper designed to look like a stained glass window. The quality of the desserts were better than your average Disney pre-made desserts and I quite liked all of them, except I found the raspberries to overpower the macaron, which were amazing without the preserve.

Character:
For dinner you meet the Beast at his study and get a photo. To me, that interaction seemed super rushed, even when there was no one in line, but I have gone before where the Beast interacts more and will even waltz with some guests.

The Beast also makes a grand entrance a couple of times throughout dinner and you might get to see him walk past you as you eat.

Again, I might have rose colored glasses because I treated it like a rare special occasion but I loved my meal at BoG. If there is anything I didn't touch on that you have questions about I would love to try to help!
