BB or TL for small children?

Hey guys... I need your help. :)

I have a pretty decent memory of TL and BB with one very large gaping hole. I have no clue which one has the better area for kids (a 2 y/o to be exact)

This will be our first time at a water park with our kiddo. Any tips or thoughts? She's been to the parks many times already - but we've been waiting on the water parks until she hit 2 and could enjoy them a little more.

Any thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks guys!

Bear in mind Jess that it's been quite a while since my kids were little, but I remember preferring BB to TL for my son. I think they had a better variety of kids things then. JMHO. :)

I've never been to TL, but BB has LOTS of hiking climbs. I guess it would depend on how old your kid(s) is(are) and if s/he/they are willing to hike and climb a LOT!!!

btw Charleston SC or WV??? I only ask because i lived outside Charleston, WV for a few years...

my 2 cents...

Well, BB does have a nice lazy river with fountains and caves and whatnot....it also has a decent little wave pool....but I think TL has a bigger wave pool....

Man, I wish I was on that lazy river right now!!

BB has Tike's Peak, which is strictly for little ones and their parents. It has little slides and lots of splashy things - no hiking.

I'd go with TL if you can only choose one.
  • Usually not as busy as BB
  • The kids area at TL I think is nicer. Has a short little tube ride that I could not pull my kids off of when they were that age. They just kept going around and around and around.
  • Nice sandy area in the kids area to play at.
  • Nice sandy area off the main wave pool that the can have lots of fun at when the waves come in.
  • Lazy river is a blast.
  • Take her to Shark reef to look at the fish through the glass (not in the water :))
Now BB is quite nice too, the area for toddlers is pretty well put together, and they do have the wave pool, but it's smaller and I think more crazy.

When she is older (5 to 6) I would highly recommend BB for the Ski Patrol area, which is now where I can't pull my kids away from (8, 11, 13).

Have FUN!

Keep the advice coming! Jess and I are planning on meeting up at the water parks...so we are still looking for advice on which one would be best to take her tot too! (I don't have kids...so it doesn't matter to me...I just want her daughter to be able to have fun! :D )

We have a 5 year old and have tended to go more to Blizzard for two main reasons - the small childrens area at Blizzard is much flatter and calmer area which she really enjoyed when she was young (TL has lots of water shooting all over the place in the kids area which she didn't like) Also the main pool has a gentler bobbing wave which she could go in compared to the massive waves at TL.

Having said that TL has more shade so if you are going at a very hot time, this is something to consider.

:ROFLOL: YAY! I can't wait! :D

Hmmmmm

So all in all... if it's a busy time of year... stick to TL? And if the water parks seem slower (in September - during free dining. - year right) we'll go to BB...

I guess we'll play it by ear then.

I'd still love to hear anything else from those of you that have gone with a toddler in tow... Are their changing area's you can take a baby to in the water parks?

Also... my kiddo is pretty wild but I like to go places where it's easy to keep an eye on her - I don't like the idea of anywhere with closed in slides for little people or chopped up landscapes where she could run off easily...

Which of the parks has a more open kids area?

(I know that probably sounds like a really dumb question - but seriously... she can disappear in 2 seconds flat. She's fast and she's tiny. I don't like taking any chances.)
