My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at the Baymont Inn and Suites during of first trip to WDW together. We certainly had an objective during our trip, enjoying Disney without spending an arm and a leg. We booked the trip fairly close to when we left so we were scrambling a bit and took a chance with this hotel. The hotel is always coming up around the net (Expedia, Priceline etc etc etc) and the deal with tough to pass up on. This place is exactly what you need if you view a hotel from the perspective that its just the bed. Considering we were up at 7am daily and didn't get home until 12 each night we didn't spend too much time in our room. When we came home early from a park we went right to the hotel pool.

Benefits
  1. Location - the hotel is located about a mile from WDW on highway 192 west (bronson).
  2. Clean
  3. Free breakfast (limited to bagels, waffles, and mini donuts) but perfect for those on a budget
Downsides

  1. early check in has 25 dollar fee, I usually am able to talk my way into an early check in without a fee or any trouble
  2. avoid shuttle, we rented a car for this reason. the shuttle runs through various other hotels as well so it can take a fair amount of time to get somewhere that my GPS clocked at 4 miles (1 mile to the WDW exit then the rest is making your way into the respective parks)
  3. the area offers very little for those who enjoy food from non-chain establishments. so, a nice dinner can be a tough thing to find! sizzlers, BK, mcdonalds... all low grade food here

We have also stayed here twice with a good experience both times. We also see it just as a bed between visits to Disney. We drive so avoid the shuttle. Sometimes we stay at the Clarion just across the steet depending on rates.

HW, how did you feel about the area in terms of food? My girlfriend and I avoided the parks for dinner, didn't make reservations in epot in time (she cant eat pork and germany was the only restaurant who has openings several nights in a row) so we struggled with dinners. Personally I wouldn't consider myself a snob, but coming from New England I'm used to a certain standard when it comes to restaurants.

We ate at some of the fast foods. Also Cracker Barrel, Golden Correl, and Dennys. I do know that if you go on down 192 toward Kissimmee there are several others. We have been to WDW many times as we are DVC members and there are other places within about 5 miles such as Olive Garden, Red Lobster. We are not big eaters so cannot remember some of them, but there are a couple fish places.
Some others within 2 miles that we have not eaten at: Crabby Joes Seafood (at the Clarian), Colorado House of Beef, Longhorn Steak House, Perkins, Wild Side BBQ and Grille, Outback Steakhouse, TGI Fridays and Carrabba's.

Hope this helps some.
