Hopefully going to upgrade to Bay Lake for Thanksgiving week. Anyone have a review of good and bad things about the resort?

Keep in mind that since it's a DVC property, you might get a better deal by renting DVC points to stay there, than by paying out of pocket. Unless you're a DVC member already...

We are DVC members. I love the BLT.
Bad (not really bad): There is no gym or quick service restaurant. You have to go over to the contemporary tower.

Checking availability from both the WDW web site for cash guests, and the DVC site for members, there is nothing available for that week anywhere. It is doubtful at this late date that you will be getting in, unless someone cancels an existing reservation. Good luck!

BLT is one of my DVC home resorts. Cons - The rooms are smaller than other DVCs, and the quality of furnishings is not as great as other DVCs (much has been written on this subject). The bathroom doors are pocket doors that slide, so I never feel 100% private when "doing my business". To take the monorail, you have to take the elevator to the 5th (?) floor, then cross over in the open air connector. There's no counter service. Pros - walk to MK in 10 minutes!!!!!!!!!!! Easy walk to CR for shopping and dining. Enjoy Wishes with piped in soundtrack from Top of the World Lounge. Use the boat, monorail or bus. Rooms that aren't designated MK view often have a great view from the balcony. We always book lake view and still had wonderful views of MK. I recommend BLT!

We are celebrating my wife's g-mas birthday and she is the DVC member. I will make sure she knows this.
Thanks.

Studio rooms are amongst the smallest for DVC but the villas are amongst the largest. The villas also have an extra bathroom. 1BR has 2 full baths while 2 bedroom has 3 full baths. I think only half of AKV offers the extra bathroom out of the WDW DVC resorts.

The walk to MK and the views of the MK are tie for the top perk for me. If you don't have a MK view room or a Lake view that still has views of the MK you can go to top of the world lounge to see wishes. They even pipe in the music up there and in your room on one of the TV channels. You can also see the boat light pageant thingy at night around the lake from either a lake view room or top of the world. It was great to leave MK after light parade and walk back to BLT, get the kids into PJs and grab a beer from the fridge in time for wishes. No fighting crowds after fireworks.

CR has some good food options and the monorail takes you to Poly and GF for even more options. CR has a boat launch that takes you to Wilderness Lodge and I think Ft Wildereness area as well. This opens up additional food and entertainment options just a short boat ride away.

The pool is pretty nice with a decent slide and a kids splash fountain thing and you have access to the CR pool too. There is limited food in the pool area, but nothing to write home about. The pool area isn't on par with Beach Club but it's still decent.

Thanks for this. We are going soon and are really looking forward to BLT. We will have now stayed at all DVC at WDW except AKL and have loved them all. In the future I'm sure we will enjoy AKLV, VGF and Poly DVC too. Also really liked Vero Beach and HHI. Time will tell if BLT will be our favorite...so far favorite is the villas at WL, or maybe BC, though my wife really liked BWV and I really liked the view of DTD from SSR. No disappointment with any thus far. Two full baths in the one bedroom means my wife and I both get our own bathroom. That sounds like a real luxury.

Yep. You know she's taking the huge one off the master bedroom and you are getting the smaller one, but its still nice;).

We stayed there twice and was not impressed either time. The rooms are tiny and the hotel itself has few amenities. Having the ability to walk to MK is a huge plus but that's it for us.

I stayed there for a week in January, it was one of my favorite resorts at WDW. The tower itself is gorgeous, I loved the design of the rooms. Yes they are tiny compared to some other DVC resorts, but it really is a nice place. I loved being able to walk to MK and you could go up to the lounge on the top level and watch the fireworks at night. I definitely want to stay there again
