We are normally loyal Poly customers but the construction has us nervous regarding our 2015 trip. While browsing the hotel websites I was intrigued by BLT. I realize it's a DVC resort but I know sometimes regular customers can book there.

Anyone have success getting a room without renting points in July? Any strategies or ideas? Am I off base here?

Thanks for any help!

Be aware that some DVC owners have been unhappy with conditions there over the past two years. Just passing it along and maybe some of them can chime in here. Not trying to be a wet blanket here but better to check for yourself before hand than being disappointed in a deluxe resort. I have not stayed there myself so I cannot speak first hand on this but the complaints I remembered hearing were wear and tear type things claiming the rooms were showing signs of aging way too soon. Using the search function should bear that out.

Doing BLT DVC first time this year .. the price you'll save vs cash option from disney.com reservation is good .. look to spend abt $13 a pt when renting... and actually now that it is March I doubt you'll get in through disney reservations... I started at mouseowners.com and asking what people had to rent but then went with Davids http://www.dvcrequest.com/ .. I'm not promoting them but it's just who we went through. Davids got a great calendar so you can pick your days and give you total pts/cost of each DVC resort .. then go out to Disney and price that same week/room .. you'll see the savings.. Last thing .. with Davids it all up front (pay in full) .. with Disney I believe it's $200 down and pay as you go but be PIF 45 days out! Good hunting !!!

Note that the very earliest you can book any DVC property is 11 months out from the checkout date of your stay. (This holds true whether you're a DVC owner, renting the points or booking directly from Disney).

The OP mentioned they were looking for July 2015. You can get an idea of what it would cost based on this year's prices, but the earliest you'd be able to book is August 2014.

We stayed at BLT last year (nonDVC member) and we're staying there again for our upcoming Dec trip. I agree it's not the most economical place, but we really like it there. Last year was a studio, and this year is a 1 bdrm. We're very excited, and really enjoy BLT and the Contemporary.
