Anyone else see the premiere of "Bates Motel" on A&E last night?
I thought it was well-written and quite suspenseful. I knew certain things had to happen, to endear Norman to his mother in that psychopathic sort of way for which we saw the results in Alfred Hitchcock's original "Pscyho" (for which the show is a prequel). But they still managed to make me wish she wouldn't treat him the way that she did. So, I can tell that, for me, the show grabbed my attention and kept it. Very good, and well-acted by Freddie Highmore (I think) as Norman and by the actress (name escapes me) who played his mother.
I am looking forward to more.
By the way, anyone here know if they filmed it on the Universal Studios lot where the original "Psycho" was filmed (and which we see on the famous original Universal Studios Tour in Hollywood)? Or did they leave that for tourists and, ironically, make another identical house and motel facade?
