Day at the Magic Kingdom:
First off- it was a scorcher…walked through the almost empty gates at about 8:45 AM- and went through Main Street strait to Frontierland where there was barely a soul there. The park was EMPTY! Amazing really…First Stop was Splash Mountain which was posted at 5 minutes- it was a walk on and half the boats were empty. The log we got stank (wasn’t this fixed yet!?) and was dirty…not good show. The ride was working excellent though- it appears all effects have been fixed from my previous (and others) rides. The Brer Rabbit was hopping, the projection was working…was the CM at the second lift always there? I don’t remember it but a CM now stands on the 2nd lift (up the side of the mtn) beside the flume…interesting. Ride was great though! And is it just me, or did they take away some of the outdoor queue and widen the exit…it all seems to flow together and there is no divider.
Anyways- next was Thunder Mountain which was a walk on as well….the ride was great! I wanted to ride again but we decided to move on…nothing unusual to report- I got my own car .
Next we went through the still empty Frontierland to Haunted Mansion where the wait was posted at 10 minutes. We walked right to the big doors that you must wait until the stretching room is ready. The CM was great! And went on about never trusting the living and yelling at a guy as he leaned against the stretching room wall! The ride was awesome! All effects working- sound was bad but still the ride was very enjoyable- and had my own doom buggy again (we had an odd number party). My sister was terrified (and shes 17!) and she had never been on it before without chickening out so after we came off, she was shaken up lol and another CM was like staring her down and she was so freaked out so we started walking quickly out the exit but he followed us! LOL It was hilarious she was so scared- he followed us almost to Fantasyland until we turned the corner and he gave one final glare! (great CM!).
We then went into Fantasyland where we went to Peter Pan’s Flight- the wait was posted at 20 minutes but was a walk on. OMG! I’d never been on this ride for years and I forgot how unbelievably cool it is (I guess the last time I went on it was when I was like “this is booooooring” phase…lol..but I loved it! Fantasyland was almost empty so we went to Snow White which had a 0 minute wait lol. I always go on this ride though I’m not a huge fan of it- lol- it cracks me up because the older crowd doesn’t like it, and the younger crowd doesn’t like it….lol
We walked out past Winnie the Pooh (20 minute wait) to the Speedway. There was a 20 minute wait which actually was 20 minutes. Interestingly for those who are farmiliar with the MK- at the end of the switchback queue you used to have to choose left or right (going to the different loading platforms) but they routed you through ONE queue and at the top you picked what side…I don’t know if this is standard or only on less-crowded days. Anyways we choose the far side since only 3 tracks were running so it would go twice as fast. All the cars DO have new steering wheels (as of a year ago or so I think)…they’re actually a little easier to handle IMO. There was a little kid holding up a traffic jam in my lane so about 15 of us were stop and go the entire way lol
We headed to Space- posted at 20 minutes-line started at like the warning signs so almost a walk on- For the first time we went right instead of left and enjoyed it very much. (btw be careful walking through the queue- I’m surprised someone hasn’t fallen its so dark). I had to go with strangers but w/e. The ride was great! Really- HUGE fun even after just experiencing rides like the Hulk. We were going to get a FP but instead rushed over to Buzz which had a 25 minute wait outside in the sun which was SO hot by now everyone was like dripping- lol- the wait was painfully slow due to FP being poorly installed and run. (Buzz used to move SO fast). The ride was great- although the queue and veachels need major painting….and I really don’t get why they put on-ride photo- its just annoying lol- I did terrible- like 11,000 points or something lol- it was embarrassing but my finger was REALLY tired after.
After this we took a spin on the TTA (a great relaxation) and went to CoP which was open. The theatre was almost full too…the show was great! All effects seemed to be working- the newly refurbed theatre was great! If they change this into bumper cars….arg! After CoP I checked on Timekeeper but it was closed due to Seasonal Runnings.
We strolled back through past the 30 minute (wth?) Astro Orbiter line. We went into Toontown Fair where I haven’t been in seriously…10 years lol. We went on the Barnstomer and waited about 15 minutes. The ride was fun but so increadibly short its crazy…*same length as Gadget’s Go Coaster*…a total of 21 seconds around the track.
We walked out and had lunch at Cosmic Ray’s outdoor balcony (seeing as the whole indoor eating area (HUGE btw) was full) overlooking the Castle and Hub which was beautiful…and fortunately it was shaded! Line to get burgers was about 15 minutes but the food was good and filling. Plus, cosmic rays has a lot of selection and even serves kosher items.
We then walked through Fantasyland. Pooh was now posting 45 minutes, Snow White was posting 30 and Philharmagic was switching between 35/40. We got into the standby line which stops for like 15 minutes but then lets half the queue in. Plus- it was out of the unbareable heat so it was a nice break. Also nice was that once in the pre-show the doors opened and we walked in unlike last time where we waited 10 minutes crowded into there. The show was great! I love it! Its defenently a must see- plus all the armrests were replaced in the theatre.
After this we walked past Peter Pan (45 minute wait) into Liberty Square and decided to try something new- the Hall of Presidents. We waited in the waiting area for about 15 minutes while talking to a CM about Bush/Kerry but he informed us he only knew about the past, not the future, lol. The show was not bad- movie followed by aa presentation. Some people might find it boring- others an interesting history lesson. I was surprised to find a lot of presidents I didn’t know about (they go through them all) but I got a look at John Quincy Adams who supposedly I have some relation to…lol.
After the show, we went aboard the Liberty Belle Riverboat (another first). The tour took awhile but was fun and it was cool to see the RoA and at the same time get some good views of TSI, Splash, BTMRR, Frontierland, and HM- I enjoyed it! Returning, we went over to Adventureland where we walked onto POTC (why did they have both lines open!?) Jungle Cruise was shut so we saw the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse (this time no wait sign ) which was neat since it’s been about 10 years since I saw it. We also saw Tiki Birds: UNM which was…entertaining lol. We then debated whether to go over to Epcot or stay at the MK and decided on the later so not to miss Spectromagic. We went back to Splash Mountain. The wait was posted at 35 minutes and took that amount of time. FP’s were being let in at an astounding wait causing quite an annoyance among stand-byers. The log this time must have been cleaned because it was fine! Even my hands didn’t smell after lol. Everything was again, working. Ride was great!
Went for a last spin on Thunder after a brief 15 minute wait. Again- was great fun- it was getting dark so it’s a little bit of a different experience. We ran back to Adventureland to the fry cart- grab some McDonald’s fries and then ran to the railroad and just caught it while a CM yelled at me for throwing out all my extra fries (jokingly) lol. We disembarked at TTF and walked to Tomorrowland on “peter’s path” which was typically deserted.
We were going to go for a spin on Space Mountain but changed our mind after seeing a 65 minute wait. Instead we got in line for Buzz Lightyear (30 minuets). The wait was painfully slow but my score improved and that’s what matters . We walked back through Tomorrowland to Fantasyland and grabbed some ice cream/shakes at Ms Pott’s cupboard. We then headed through the caslte onto Main Street. It was just starting to get dark and was about 7:45- Spectromagic was at 8:30. Main Street was just packed. The ropes they set up are quite a disturbance too. We walked down looking for any possible place to squeeze in to see the parade. We finally just went under the rope (after getting told “THAT SIDE OF THE ROPE OR KEEP WALKING…typical MK crowd control trying to deal with thousands of people looking for spots). We tried squeezing all 7 of us into the 2 foot by 2 foot spot which was very uncomfortable and all these peoples family kept coming which made us packed in SO tight I thought I was going to die waiting for 45 minutes. The crowd control was very busy- about every 5 seconds they would be up telling people to get on this side of the rope (where there was NO room) or keep moving to Town Square.
Naturarlly, a lot of people squeezed their way in so it was like now 10 people deep in what fit about 4 or 5. The rope was getting pushed back lol. I couldn’t see a thing. FINALLY when the parade started about 5 little girls also pushed their way in front of me and had spiny toys which they hit me with a few times…arg…lol. After this we were all pushed to the OTHER side of the street (well actually we were yelled at to get ON THE SIDEWALK, OFF THE STREET) lol so all the people could exit after Spectro…who would exit here, I don’t know but there was a lot of people. Finally, we saw Wishes which was GREAT! The exit was slow and we stopped at the emporium but overall it was pretty quick (only a 15 minute wait for monorail).
All in all, I did not see very much litter, or chipped paint or any of this stuff they complain about- lol- upkeep appeared to be good. All in all, a great day.
