Not sure if this has been brought up but for the banshee flight simulator have there been any patents that could gives us clues on what the ride vehicle will look like? I know they are using a Vekoma ride system for it but I think the vehicles a creation of WDI. According to the bob iger interview piece from December he said the bodies of the banshees would move to simulate breathing from the creature. Is there a patent for this or is disney keeping this under lock and key?

To answer your question, as discussed on the Avatar Specifics thread, no. The company won't release patent information this far out. Traditionally, it'll be last minute to avoid embarrassment in changing something and to prevent others from stealing their technology.

They file patents as soon as they have a solidly finalized development - whether it's going to be used immediately, in 10 years, or never.

Exactly. If they had a new fangled proprietary ride system for Flight of Passage, it likely would have already been patented since it would have been developed before they moved to the construction phase.

That said, I don't see any novel ride vehicle for this attraction. Even if it is set up that everyone gets their "own" banshee to ride, that sounds more like just decor and not engineering.
