Was there a reason they stopped doing Balloon Launches/Send off's at Disney? I remember seeing that it was common during celebrations or grand openings of some sort? Anyone know?
Balloon releases were fun back in the day, but can't no more.

The top line says a large number of balloons. A random few through the day doesn't make a huge difference.Ouch! That's a lot of Red-Tape nonsense..Especially if one accidently get's let go from a kids hand in the parks...Yeesh!

and when they do come down, it typically ain't pretty. It really is a lot of garbage to let float around. People who complain about people dropping a napkin on the ground seem OK with letting 100 plastic bag go - because they go up into the sky. They have to come down somwhere.

There actually is a helium shortage going on right now, but balloons have next to nothing to do with it. That is just the typical unnecessary stretching of the truth to further an actual worthwhile cause that makes my blood boil.I dont know about that comment that they make "they waste helium, a finite resource". It's not as if there are helium mines that are running out. Helium is extracted from the atmosphere, and then it goes back into the atmosphere when a ballon deflates.

A single balloon is not a problem, but, if you release massive amounts it would mess with security radar watching the sky's for unusual traffic. It isn't your grandfathers world anymore. Many things have had to change just for us to have a small amount of security.I wonder what the last anniversary that WDW did that had the balloon send off?
Well that was terribly depressing.
