Backstage Safari Vs. Sunrise Safari

Right now our Honeymoon itinerary includes taking both the Backstage Safari tour and the Sunrise Safari tour at AK (yes we're staying concierge at AKL due to the kindness of a few). My question is do we need to do both?

If they're very similar then we might skip the Backstage Safari and use that time for something else (like Disneyquest). However we really want to see how the animals are cared for backstage and possibly the feeding of the animals.

thanks

They are very different.

We did the Backstage Safari last year. It is a tour backstage of the animal habitats (elephant barn, rhinos, etc), you get to walk through where they make up all the food, and the vet areas. Plus a couple of other places. They even do a bit of class room time as well.

Good tour, very informative. I wish all the AK dislikers would do this tour, it really shows that AK is NOT A ZOO. And why and how they do the things they do for conservation.

As for the Sunrise Safari, we will be doing that in Oct when we stay at AKL concierge ourselves. This is not really a tour per se, but an extended version of the normal AK safari ride. You go to the park early (before AK is open), and ride the same trucks as the ride normally is, but they stop for long periods of time to let you get a good look, and take pictures. The concierge service people told me the ride will last from 0:45-1:15, much longer that the regular ride. Plus, you get a big breakfast afterward.

I wouldn't cancel either.

So when are you going?

Hey, I can wish you luck in person! We'll be there Oct 8-15! :D

It's our 6th year anaversery for us. What day did they schedule the Sunrise Safari on for you, well be doing it on that Saturday (Oct 12).

We're also doing the Wild by Design, Hidden Treasures, and Backstage Magic tours as well. It's an all tour vacation for us!

Have fun!

We're waiting to hear back from the people who are helping us at WDW. We'll most likely be with you on the 12th! Keeping my fingers crossed that they can get us in.

So, did you ever get into the tour?
