I would find a real good durable one. I have used Jansport and they are pretty good. I like to have pockets though, I am a poket freak...LOL

I don't know if there is a particular brand you should get, but I am most interested in keeping my backpack light and compact. Thus, I have a smaller one. Plus, if it's larger it tends to heat up your back which isn't great when it's warm outside. Of course, it all depends on how much stuff you need to carry

i agree here! if you want to carry a backpack, find the smallest one that will fit all of your stuff comfortably... and try to keep it light! by the end of the day that thing is going to feel like it gained 10 pounds!!

I don't go for brands, but light, comfortable and waterproof would be priorities. Also bear in mind that Security have to check all the pockets, so the more pockets, the longer you will be at the security check unzipping and sipping them back up.

I just use my camera bag.

Hmm, this is a good question.

It depends a LOT on comfort to me. I've tried them all, though.

The last couple years I've had a "sling", which has a strap going over only one shoulder, but still stays on you like a backpack if you get teh right brand. It's small, yet large enough for most people's stuff.

I've tried the full backpack, which has always seemed too large.

This year, I'm trying something new, only because of the difficulty I've had with accesibility to a backpack or a sling. I'm taking the route of the Messenger bag. It's light, yet has plenty of room for your stuff. Only one large pocket for security to check, EASILY accessible while hanging to the side, rather than behind you.

Anytime you want to get into the backpack it'sa pain in the butt. You have to takei it off, set it down, unzip it, then find what you're after in this deep, deep mess.

With the messenger bag, it hangs right at your side, which makes for easy grabbing, and you never have to remove it. PLUS, all you do is flip it open, rather than having to wrestle with a zipper.

I can't wait to try it out. So far, I can see no negatives with the messenger bag.

:)

Whatever you get, make sure it has large, comfortable, adjustible straps. We went to Hersheypark over the summer and I had to go buy a new backpack because the crappy straps were making unsightly red rashes on my shoulders from constant rubbing.
I would also say that one with a waterbottle holder is good too. It's convienient, and one less thing you have to carry. Plus, when it condensates it won't get your stuff wet.

I used a messenger bag this past trip. It's one they sell at WDW. There are pics of me with it in my photo album if you want a visual. It seemed to work pretty well. I did get tired of lugging it around and wished for the freedom of not having to carry anything, but for the reasons Main Street USA mentioned, I would opt for a messenger bag or something similar. I woulda left mine in the room every now and then, but it was just too darned cute not to carry around :p

l've used my camera bag in the past, then again i'm a photo taking nut with a SLR and digital camera plus film, but l still find room for keeping 2 or 3 spare cheap dollar store ponchos handy in a side pocket for those sudden showers. That and l sometimes use a pack also as a extra bag for stuff.

I use my safari bag....It's the sling bag they have at Mombasa Marketplace in DAK. I also use my messenger bag on days when I have more things to carry (like a change of clothes or a umbrella/poncho)

Here's a picture... For me it has to be light and comfortable.

I would not take a really big one. Last couple of times I went, some people with big backpacks stopped in the middle of moving crowds and caused passers-by to dodge their backpacks and knock into other guests. Not to mention it is really painful on the shoulders after a while.

I use a mini-back-pack-type-purse-thing. It is small enough but big enough to fit my camera, a poncho, a water bottle, snacks, sunscreen, wallet, and dry socks. It is not too bulky and has one big pocket. I keep it light and have not had probs with it getitng on or off rides or finding things inside.

P.S. Welcome to the Boards.

Tamrac has some real good backpacks, but they can get expensive. The one I have is specifically for camera gear. It has lots of compartments and way too many pockets. Which means i will be spending plenty of quality time with security.

Here's a couple quickies of my disney-fied messenger bag....just begging for some WDW action!

Notice how nicely the park map fits into the inside pocket. Ahhh, organization and convenience!

Go for comfort.

Try to pack it with everything you want to take before you go then walk around for at least 1 hour, this will let you know how it feels on your shoulders. Keep the heavier items toward the bottom and near your back this will help you from having your back hurt as much.
