Last time we went to Disney, my children were stroller age. Now going with my Granddaughters and not needing a stroller, do they allow back packs into the parks to carry items?

Thanks
Kevin

Yes, and they will be inspected by a Disney Security cast member before entering each park.

Yes. Backpacks are allowed, and you can bring it on most rides. (An overly large backpack might give you a tough time on some close-quarters ride vehicles like Space Mountain)

The Universal parks also allow bags into the parks, but don't allow them on many of the rides.

As mentioned, you can bring a backpack. By the end of a day, you will likely be very tired and carrying the bag that seemed like no big deal in the morning will be a major chore. If you can, you might consider trying to get through the day without whatever it is you're bringing in the backpack.i

Uni doesn't allow loose bags on some of their rides. packs (small bags snapped on to your body that you don't have to carry) are okay, but backpacks, purses, totes aren't allowed on the ride and must be placed in, then retrieved from a locker. The lockers are free, but it gets old pretty fast. If it is possible, skip the bags at Uni.

If your backpack has multiple pockets, the bag check people will have to look in all of them, whether or not anything is in there. If you want to be ready, unzip all the zippers. :)

A tip: Before you get to the security check, open all zippers/compartments inside and out. Nothing worse than holding up the line while you do so at the guard and the guard then pays "special" attention.

I wear a belt pack and have it all open, off my waist and held out for inspection, I rarely get more than a very cursory look-through, normally just a look and go... The guards appreciate guests who appear to know the routine.

Not only is this courteous to the guests behind you, it gets you through the gate quicker also.

The more "open book" you appear, the less they suspect you - so definitely a good strategy.

My strategy is to just wear cargo shorts with big pockets all over them. Everything I need for a day in the parks fits in a pocket. Only saves a few seconds though, since I can't convince my wife to go purse-less.

I do love not worrying about that at Disney. Nothing like the locker fiasco at MIB , I can't stand dealing with that.

We rode Forbidden Journey on a slow day at Uni, and the locker situation was a nightmare. Brand new ride, and they couldn't build a locker room with pathways to accommodate today's crowds?

I'm not even sure why they require me to put my purse in a locker for that ride. It seems totally unnecessary to me.

Or easy to find when you get off?

The lockers are really the worst thing at Uni.

If you can manage to go to Uni bagless (or with a pack), do it, people!

Just want to add.... be mindful of the size of the backpack when wearing it. I've seen some that literally stick out a foot :).
Uni lockers are terrible and so are the locker guards. We couldn't get back in to ours at the Hulk and they rudly insisted that we'd exceeded our time limit. He opened it and found he was incorrect. No apology.

I always carry a backpack at WDW. Even though the kids are past the stroller stage - we still have a lot of 'stuff.' From ponchos and allergy meds for DD7s food allergies, a light clothing change for the kids (b/c you never know when you might need it), to camera gear and a first aid kit...the pack is a must. Mine is a 3 compartment bag, so before getting in line for bag check, I unzip every single compartment and try and shift things a bit so it's easy for security to see most everything without much digging. I do have one of those clear NFL bags for football games. Thinking about turning it into a crossbody of some sort as that might speed up things even more.

Another backpack user here. The only issue I've had is finding a good place to put it while I get my picture taken with characters.
