Got back from my quick Orlando trip with the wife an daughter. Hit Sea World on Thursday and then Island of Adventures on Friday. Got to Universal just before 9 and the park was already open. Went straight to Potter and waited about 40 minutes to ride. We had just took off when the ride shut down. We stayed strapped in for about 10 minutes and then they turned the lights on and said the wait would be just a few minutes more. About 25 minutes later, we "rode" the ride with the lights turned on and was given a pass to skip to the front of the lines later. We decided to do the Fire and Ice coasters and the wait was less than 5 minutes for each. Went back to ride Potter (posted wait time was about 90 mins now) and I will say that ride is pretty intense as my 9 year old got pretty scared (she is a daredevil and will ride just about anything, but I think this was the 1st and last time for her).
After that we headed over and rode Hulk, Dr. Doom, Spiderman, and Jurassic Park before finishing up with Posideon, and Seuss land. My daughter wanted to ride the Dudley log ride but the wait was almost 90 minutes for that and even longer for Popeye. It started raining pretty good so we went and had a very late lunch/early dinner and left around 4:30.
Overall we really loved Universal and will probably go back next year and do both Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios. One thing I will say is that I didn't like having to store everything in lockers before riding. They were free which was nice (unlike at Sea World), but not sure why it's necessary. Disney doesn't make you do that.
