Baby advice and merchandise

Hi,

Strange title I know, but am looking for a couple of pieces of help! I have been to Disney 10 times personally (live in England) and last year my wife and 18 month old daughter came over and had the best time ever, was just unbelievable. The first question I was wondering if people could help with is this ; my wife is pregnant, due in the next month, and we were wondering whether it would be a good idea to come next year with a 9/10 month old or whether it was too early. Obviously we would have the 10 hour flight and the extreme heat. My wife will breast feed again so that shouldn't be an issue but it's just whether there is any advice from seasoned pro's! We would have to come in August as well (know it is hot, but I am a teacher and our holidays in England are the last week in July and all of August so that is the only time we can come!) the second question is does anybody know if there is anyway I can buy merchandise from the parks without being there? When baby is born I want to get one of the Christmas stockings (my daughter has the Minnie one already.) Over here we obviously have the Disney store, but it just isn't the same as the products in the actual parks which are far superior in my opinion. No problems if there is nothing I can do with that, just wondering if it could be done? Thanks for any advice/help in advance.

First of all, Congratulations on the upcoming birth of your 2nd child! I understand the issue of scheduling a vacation during school break. We have always visited Disney during the hot summer months because I am also a teacher. We just returned from our first September visit since I retired last June. It was Hot...hot....hot....and I saw many small babies who seemed to do quite well...some were in carriers and some in strollers. I think the under one year old kiddos do better than older kids because they don't/can't walk yet and are very happy being strolled or carried. Once they start to walk, they want in/out of the stroller and that can be stressful. The heat is another issues....use a stroller fan and keep them hydrated. Of course your options for attractions with a 10 month old will be quite limited.
As for your second question....try www.disneystore.com. They have lots of the same products you find in the stores. Good luck and enjoy your trip. :cat:

I went with a 10 month old and it was amazing. She was breast fed in the nursing rooms at the parks and they also sell baby souvenirs and any baby food or medicine you would need there. She learned to clap and dance during the lion king show and was generally very interested in just watching people. Surprisingly she was able to go on a lot of attractions and we rider swapped on the ones she can't go on. Highly reccomended, plus they are free to fly and enter parks. Only piece of advice is to bring a boppy pillow on the plane to nurse with. Let the baby sleep on, and to be used as back support when your baby is sitting on your lap!

we take our kids from 3 months old and on, no problem.
it is of course harder and you have to make accomodations but that doesn't mean you can't do it, or won't have fun.
we do!
just understand it will be different but still good. allow nap time and pool time, something we didn't do before the kids started coming.

as far as the heat? i told my daughter with the birth of her first child when she was all worried about heat and cold, "babies are born every year in subtropical africa and in greenland and they all manage to survive the weather".
don't worry about it, he/she will notice it less than you do, just protect from the sun and keep hydrated- like you didn't know that ;-)

and yes, there is a dedicated line at WDW for purchasing in park products. twice when somene saw something and didn't get it and really really had to have it after we left (i won't mention names- SIL) i have called, described the item and where it was located and was able to buy it. i am sure they can help you even if you don't know exactly what and where if you tell them what you want.

call them and give it a try :877-560-6477
