While the map is being completed I decided that I would be a good idea to see if anybody had any other ideas for adding Marvel properties to Disney World. Also before anyone says anything I am going to add some lore to the land that will justify Disney having access to Marvel.

Sounds interesting if it's at all possible. It's too bad they got rid of the New York, it would have been an easy transition.

Lore
Guests have been clamoring for a land based on the more well known Avengers such as Iron Man and Captain America but avoid the already overdone Avenger’s Campus and the problems that follow that land. Ever since Disney purchased Fox they know have many adult properties like Alien and Predator that they couldn’t really put at the parks but would be perfect at Universal, so Disney started talks with Universal about a transfer of Theme Park rights.

The talks didn’t exactly start well because Universal was quite adamant on keeping the theme park rights to Marvel and Disney kept on trying to sweeten the pot for Universal, this is quite a switch to the 2 company’s dynamic with Disney being the nicer one and being able to compromise while Universal is the one being stubborn and unmoving. The original offer was switching Marvel for the properties of all of the Predator, Planet of the Apes, and all of the smaller horror films. This apparently was not enough for Universal as they just flat out rejected the offer, Disney then put some other properties on the table such as Die Hard and some other action movies but this was still not enough and Disney thought they might add Simpsons with the deal but that proved to be to much. So Disney’s final offer was the 2nd draft of the deal plus a payment of 7 billion dollars and that is when Universal finally agreed and a date was agreed upon for the Marvel land at Universal to close and be rethemed. Some of you may notice that Disney kept the Alien films the reason why is that they had some plans for that property at the theme parks (coming soon).

Disney then announced at the next D23 that they have acquired the theme park rights for Marvel and that they were in the beginning stages at creating a Marvel land but they have said and I quote “This will not be the same ordinary Avengers Campus that has been added to the other parks but this land will add a location that has been removed from Hollywood Studios”, many rumors have gone around that the New York area will be added back to Hollywood Studios but there are still many rumors of locations. Some rumored locations is the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular or the backstage areas of the park.

Avenger’s New York and Stark Expo
IMG_1054.jpeg

The land takes up the majority of the cast member parking lot which is below Galaxy’s Edge. The land is separated into 2 sublands which is New York and Stark Expo.

1: Avengers: Battle for New York
This ride is the lands E Ticket which uses the original ride system that was used for the Avengers attraction. Guests will first walk into an Avengers museum which is at the base of Avengers tower from Age of Ultron, the museum is filled with artifacts, models, and history of each of the Avengers. Guests will then take an elevator to the lobby of Avengers Tower which is where the pre show will take place, as we are new and upcoming Avengers but an attack from space happens and the Avengers are dispatched to stop it and we are instructed to help them out. Guests will then board quinjets where guests will interact with the guns but an oncoming rocket destroys the quinjets and the guests will help the avengers as they fight off the invasion in jet packs. The ride ends as the battle ends.

2: Spider Man Rollercoaster
Guests will first enter a reporting office where they will go through the many rooms and will even see an animatronic Jonas Jameson yelling at his reporters but we enter a pre show where we see Peter Parker interning at the reporting office but is yelled at by Jameson and is told to leave and that he is fired but Green Goblin attacks New York and Parker leaves the room and Jameson tells us to board a new news reporting plane that they had purchased. Guests will then board the jet as they fly around the city where Spider Man and Green Goblin are fighting each other. The main show building is filled with sets with said sets being fully built up and replicating the New York skyline at night, many animatronics also fill the ride. The coaster ends with Spider Man capturing the Green Goblin.

3: Iron Man attraction
This attraction will use the same ride system as Soarin or Flight of Passage. Guests will enter an abandoned Stark factory, the factory itself is filled with moving conveyor belts that somehow still move which are carrying Iron Man suits. A large hulkbuster suit is at the center of the room which will occasionally accidentally fire into a wall and will start falling apart. The main point of the ride is that we are testing out a new suit for Iron Man but New York is attacked by Hydra and we must help Iron Man stop them. Guests will board the new suits as Iron Man starts attacking Hydra as the suit seems to be faulty and we attempt to get away but we are stopped and we start flying through the city.

4: New Version of Carousel of Progress
This version of the Carousel of Progress will take us through the history of technology with scenes based off the late 1800s, early 1990s, late 1990s, early 2000s, and present day with the present day showing a modern New York with the Avengers flying around and the new Avengers tower.

5: Pizza Restaurant
This restaurant serves authentic Pizza and Italian cuisine. The restaurant has 2 floors and offers outdoor seating on a balcony and even on the sidewalks.

6: Shawarma Restaurant
Guests can eat at the famous restaurant mentioned in the films which offers authentic shawarma made in New York. Guests can even see pictures when the Avengers visited and replicas of the Avengers weapons.

7: Iron Man Restaurant
This restaurant takes place in an abandoned meat packing plant that has been taken over by Iron Man and offers authentic American foods such as hamburgers and hotdogs. The restaurant is filled with Iron Man suits and kinetic elements.

8: Meet and Greet
This location will offer meeting with Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, Hawkeye, and many other Avengers. The location offers a unique meet and greet with the Hulk which after much development is now a walk around character.

9: Observation Tower
Guests can take an elevator up to the top floor of this very tall building which gives a great view of the land and the surrounding park.

News Update
When the land opened at Hollywood Studios it was a huge hit with guests with it’s unique rides and it’s incredible New York theming, normal guests love the rides which were great additions to the ride line up for Hollywood Studios and with critic that were glad that Disney had finally built a good Marvel land that wasn’t Avenger’s Campus. But many guests were expecting a large presence of other Avengers such as Doctor Strange which have become considerably more popular since his 3rd movie which was a box office smash, rumors are going around that a new Doctor Strange ride or show could be added to the land that would further bolster the land’s experience’s. Original plans for the land called for a transportation ride that would go through the land and would be themed to an above ground tram but was unfortunately cancelled due to budget cuts and high probability that nobody would ride it.

Disney has shed light on original plans for the land that included the main E Ticket being a drop tower themed to the Hulk, the Spiderman coaster, a Iron Man kuka ride, the transportation ride, and a Doctor Strange walkthrough. Many have said that this version of the land would not have been as good as the land that we got and the new version is the better one.

A 2nd phase is rumored for the land that would add the original Doctor Strange walkthrough/show, an Iron Man flat ride, and another entrance into the land between Pizzarizzo and Star Tours but only time will tell and if these rumors are correct.
