Avengers Campus expansion at DCA

As you know, the original plan for Avengers Campus was to take over Hollywoodland. That fell through because of the Eastern Gateway drama. However, with Disneyland Forward back in the cards, that version likely has some form of successor to the EG folded in. I also believe on of the things Disney is considering to a Hollywoodland replacement is an Avengers Campus expansion. If that did happen, how would you want the to expand AC into HL? what heroes or characters should get their own rides? And should they do rides based on single characters or more in the style of the Avengers E ticket where they contain a variety of Marvel characters and can be updated easily over time with the MCU?

While Marvel/MCU is going to continue to have a large presence at DCA, I have serious doubts on it coming into HollywoodLand.

At this point I'd guess more that a variation of Pandora was coming to HollywoodLand/EGW than more Marvel/MCU.

I think it's more likely Pandora goes into Disneyland rather than DCA.

Anything is possible, including Pandora going into either DL OR DCA, or somewhere else for that matter. My point is that personally I see them moving another IP into HollywoodLand or keeping it IP-less than it being taken over by Marvel/MCU at this point. So while I'm not saying it can't happen, just saying I don't see it happening, especially since they can't even get the Avenger's ride construction started. D23 2024 is going to be interesting to see if we hear any announcement on HollywoodLand and DCA in general for new projects.

I actually think they are timing construction to start in 2024 or if we're lucky the end of 2023. Disney has proven they can move fast on projects if they want to. When Secret Wars starts filming they will probably film the live action portions for the Multiverse attraction alongside it to kill two birds with one stone. While it's anyones guess how much content for the parks will be announced at D23 2024, I bet D23 2026 will be chalk full of it (at least for WDW) as Disney will be going full bore trying to catch up to Epic Universe as they have NOTHING for 2025 to compete against it. We might even get a decent amount of announcements for DLR as well as the LA Olympics will be right around the corner in 2028 and they don't want USH to steal all their thunder as Universal plans to beef us USH but have the olympics broadcast center there as well.

Why are you assuming that the Avengers attraction will have anything to do with the Secret Wars movie that requires being filmed at the same time? Just because Secret Wars is based on the Multiverse and will be ending of the Multiverse Saga of Phases 4-6 doesn’t mean it’ll be used to film anything related to this attraction. In fact I’ll take it one step further, until construction starts and finishes we don’t even know if it’ll still be the “King Thanos” based Avengers attraction they announced at D23, we’ve heard nothing since the announcement. They’ve already changed this project so many times it’s ridiculous.

As for the Olympics I have doubts if Disney will do much in terms of large scale projects, but we’ll see. We’re only 5 years away and the clock isn’t stopping.

The Idea they will film the live action portions alongside Secret Wars is something I heard someone speculate over on the Inside Universal forums. The logic the poster used was that the live action portions of Mission Breakout were filmed alongside Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 to help shoulder production costs. So they could employ that again for any hypothetical E ticket regardless if they go with the Multiverse E ticket or something else. But i agree with you that Disney needs to settle on something, anything for an Avengers E ticket.

That is a lot of assumptions/speculation for a project where very little details are known. We don't even know if they will be using primarily screens where live action footage will be used or if it'll all be CGI, let alone if the final version will even have anything to do with the Multiverse or anything related to Secret Wars. Plus why would they need to wait for Secret Wars? They could just as easily film it during Kang Dynasty or any other film between now and the end of Phase 6. Or film it completely separately like they did for Web Slingers.

Point is that waiting for filming anything for this project until Secret Wars starts filming is not what is holding up the project.

Then what could it be? Supply issues? Maybe they want to knock out San Fransokyo and Tiana's first?

I don't know for sure, and no one here knows for sure either, its all speculation. But if I was to guess, its to save money on construction crews similar to what they had been doing the last couple years post-pandemic. So yeah I would guess its to finish up Tiana first as that is the next major project. Either that or they've decided to change the project yet again and do something different.

Tiana's is slated for late 2024. So if they start after that is completed, we would be looking at a 2027 debut for the Avengers E ticket.

If they follow the 3 year pattern they have been following, yes. However as you stated before Disney does have the ability to move projects along faster if they want. Who knows what they will do here. But with Iger’s recent comments on adding capacity through new attractions and rehiring Imagineer Bruce Vaughn indicates to me they plan to speed up things as much as possible, but we’ll have to wait and see on the real execution.
