Auditioned for face character at Tokyo Disneyland!

Hello all!

I had an audition a while ago for a face character at Tokyo Disneyland :)
I'm finding it hard to find any information/help on getting a job at Disney from here in Australia... Soooooo I'd thought I'd share my expereince for any other Disney job hunting Aussies out there :) :)

Bit of background - I'm 5'5, 54kg, dark hair, green eyes.
The audition I went to was for both dancers and face characters (males and females).
The dancing part was first up - in the morning, so I had to wait around until the afternoon to audition.

But, for those interesting in the dancing part:
About 200 people showed up (!) Of which most were girls (about 10 boys in total I think) and they gave us all a nunber which we stuck to out tops. We then went into a seperate hall in groups of 30 at a time, where we basically did ballet 101 - a short routine to prove we had some ballet/jazz training. Very technical - they were definatly looking for peopel strong in technique.

They called out about 5 or 6 numbers from each group, and these were given a call back for later. Then, all those given a call back were put into one group, and taught another routine - more fun this time and not so technical. More were cut from here. I'm not sure what happened next :)

Face Characters:
There were about 60 of us, and (again) everyone was given a number. We were all packed into hall, where we were first up told that if we we booted out not to feel bad - theis audition is based 90% on how you LOOK - you have got to resemble the Disney characters so that kids will really believe you ARE that person :) (*duh*)

They taught us a short routine. They say no dancing background necessary, and that they are simply observing how you move, if you are coordinated, but most importantly, your presence - how you light up a room!
Smile, look at the judges (there was 6 of them! All lined up behind a lond white table. Spooky hehehe)

It was a pretty simple rountine (we performed it to "Season of the Heart" from TokyoSea. Fun!) and we also had to pretend to wave at kids as if we were on a float in a parade. Oh! Under 5"4 in height people had a more 'playful' wave (ala Tinkerbell, Peter Pan, Alice, etc, as those auditioners fall into that height range) while 5"5 and over had to portray a more graceful look, like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty style.

After we learned the routine, we were called out in groups of 4 to perform in front of the judges, while everyone else stood to the sides and watched. Hehehehe.

After everyone had a go, the called out a bunch of numbers - if you were not called, you were cut.
They then repeated the exact same process over with those who weren't cut - same routine, and cut out about another half. This is as far as I got (*sniff* :brick: ).

Note: People were stuffing up the routine right and left! I don't think one person did it all the way through with no mistakes. They judges do NOT care - just keep smiling and enjoying yourself, and don't LOOK like you've biffed it up. They don't want to see you panicking if you forget something :)

Anyway, all in all, good experience!
I have another audition on June 1st (Melbourne) for Hong Kong Disneyland. Yay! Hopefully this one goes better :sohappy:
