Attractions closed during rain

We're heading to Universal a week from today for Labor Day weekend. As of right now, the entire weekend forecast is rain.

Can I assume all outdoor attractions will be closed if it's raining? If so, it's looking right now that this trip will be a complete waste as we wouldn't get to ride HRRR, Hulk, Dragon Challenge, Jurassic Park, Rip Saw Falls, Popeye.

Florida rain can be a 10 second mist or a week long affair.

Chances are pretty good those storms will blow thru fairly quick, leaving you plenty of time to catch the rides you want.

Well, I know that's the case in the summer usually. But the forecast for next weekend isn't even calling for sun with thunderstorms. Just clouds and rain.

Usually if the forecast reads "scattered" or "evening showers" you'll be ok.

Of it's 80% chances of rain or just straight up "thunderstorms" you might be sunk.

Attractions don't close for rain, they close for lightning.
You can ride the Hulk, Dr Doom & others while it's raining, just not with lightning within five miles.
The rides at any park are only closed when it is absolutely necessary.
Other than that, Labor Day weekend is usually a great time to visit the parks as everyone went back home to send the kids to school. Have a great time!

There's an 80% chance that the forecast for Labor Day weekend will change quite a bit between now and then.

Cool - That makes me feel a little better.

I think you should be able to sign a waiver and ride when there's lightning. :)

Like Mat said, only lightning will close things. Also, you can't judge weather this far out. Come Wednesday of this week, take a look and see. That's when you can tell more of what it's like. If it's cloudy, that's great! It won't be so hot! If it rains without lightning, that's even better, it will keep people away!

After the afternoon storms, I head to the parks. Why? I'm the lone person entering the park with thousands leaving!

In central FL there is rain in the forecast everyday during the summer. However, we don't really get full day rain. I've been living down here for nearly 3 months now, and haven't had a full day of rain yet. Usually it rains for about 15 minutes, but 2 hours has been the longest I have seen yet.

I'm sure some of you already realize this, but even if there's no lightning and the rides stay open, I don't recommend riding a roller coaster in the rain. It hurts like hell.

And of course, you're always better off in USF than IOA if it's cloudy, as there's more indoor attractions.

HRRR is truly horrible in the rain (especially the lift hill)...other than that discomfort..you should be good to go!

My sister an I rode Dragon Challenge in the rain, front row.
Afterwards she said it reminded her of some movie where they play soccer on brooms, in the rain. Enhanced the ride somewhat.

Jurassic Park in the rain is fun too. It's more true to the movie and the fog becomes thicker.

Thats just the normal weather for this time of the year. If you arrive at the park early you'll be able to ride everything, most of the rain doesnt happen untill around noon, and barely lasts much longer then 30 minutes. (( Usually))
